Interesting stuff. That's what I like about the DL forums - they pull in all sorts of folk, from borderline psychopathic ranters to people who know (or should I say knew, in this case) the pickees personally and have a tale to tell.
-
Site duly updated, and the DL team are indeed in the lead, but there's only 1 point in it... http://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2004/scores.html

Congrats folks. Assuming Fay Wray gets a UK obit (have just checked, and can't find anything yet), then you go top. Still got your joker (Biggs) to come as well, whereas most of the other challengers have lost theirs!

That old clip where some bloke walks up to him and lamps him on live TV will no doubt get another airing on tonight's news then Ah, how times change. These days, that'd be a compliment. In fact, he'd get thrown out of a circus for likening an elephant's anus to Blackpool.

His lawyer said on the BBC this morning that Biggs is now unable to speak, having to be fed through a tube, and close to death, although that may be something to do with the fact that he's currently trying once again to get him released.

I believe that was a reference to our outspoken young Swedish friend Kommunist.
-
That's not too strange - noisy neighbours are a real problem on our overcrowded little island. Sounds like the selfish cow got what she deserved in this case. Or as Nelson Muntz would put it...HA HA!

And the clock struck Ted... Time weighed heavily on his hands...etc etc

Since GR doesn't seem to be around at the moment, let me try again... -- Thread closed (I think) -- [Thanks for stepping in Rude Kid - GR]

Interesting...how come you know him well enough to be chatting on the phone to him?

The latest on NM: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3934525.stm That could be a good thing or a bad thing at his age, but I don't reckon I'll be putting him in my team just yet.

Francis Crick, Nobel Prize-winning DNA boffin, is a goner: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3937475.stm Just the one hit in the DDP - the DL team's position isn't affected.

He was married fairly young then - born Aug 30, 1930. He's a mere stripling of a lad, just coming up to 74.

Dead Award-Winning Composer Jerry Goldsmith Dies
Rude Kid replied to Stayin Alive's topic in DeathList Forum
Didn't think to put him in my damn team though, did I? -
...or spelling and grammar for that matter. Not a bad little drive-by rant though, Mr Henchman - about a 6 out of 10, I'd say. For future reference, you could have improved your score by the usual techniques of calling us sad and casting wild aspersions about our private lives.

I see...well, a quick trawl through this year's DDP entries reveals a few musical possibles: Captain Beefheart (63, reportedly in ill health) Jack Bruce (ex-Cream, 61, has had cancer) Jerry Goldsmith (composer, 75, has cancer) Vera Lynn (87) Humphrey Lyttleton (83, but still touring) Mitch Miller (93) Oscar Peterson (jazzman, 78) Tommy Steele (67) Luther Vandross (only 53, but was in a coma for a while last year)
-
Someone's picked her in the DDP, but I've heard nothing about her state of health. Anyway, what the hell is this job of yours that involves the Andrews Sisters??
-
I have Jane Andrews in my current DDP team. Close (ish) but no cigar!
-
OK, you've persuaded me. She's now in the squad for my 2005 team.
-
Blimey, someone's a bit upset at him, aren't they?? Who'd have thought dead pools could be taken so seriously? All I can say is he's always been nice as pie to us. Good at letting us know when there's been the occasional death that we've missed as well.
-
Problem is that if we banned elderly celebs, we'd only have half a dozen hits per year, and with over 40 teams, the whole thing would just be one big tie. Apparently Len Vale-Onslow was well-known among bikers, having built and sold bikes for something like 90 years. Our profile probably didn't do him justice!
-
You'd get precious few hits if you restricted yourselves to picking younger, 'loose cannon' celebs, interesting though they are. We've had 49 hits in the DDP in the last 18 months, all but 9 of them aged 75 or over. Anyway, I reckon Love's just a serial attention-seeker. She's had 10 years since Cobain's death to top herself; if she was going to do it, I'm sure she'd have blown a Hole in her head by now.

Hmmm - not very far away from me...now there's a DL research opportunity... Brinsworth House was also home to Thora Hird, and I believe Alan 'Fluff' Freeman is there these days. Well worth a peep over the garden fence to see who's not looking too good.

He's still alive, aged 78, according to imdb.com. I thought he'd be older than that as well.
