No admission that for once I wasn't talking bullshit though?
-
Not that it matters in this instance but Newsbeat shouldn't count. It's radio 1's news page, unless we're going to count Capital's news page it's unfair to include it.

Didn't say you couldn't leave school at sixteen. However due to the rule changes a few years ago, in England at least, you have to remain in education/training until 18. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt being Scottish that you didn't know about this, or were too pissed to read my post properly. https://www.gov.uk/know-when-you-can-leave-school

Well as pros will be knocking the fuck out of anatuers , without headguards, at the Olympics....quite a few I reckon. Oh jesus fucking christ. That one slipped by me. Apparently: How the fuck does that even work, maybe find some other head protection if it doesn't work. When football is finally on the brink of accept the repeated head trauma and Parkinsonism link. boxing is going backwards?

Some point this year I'll produce my 2017 for 2017 list. The current drafts only a hundred long it's already lost 5!
-
That documentary was excellent. Clear produced a while ago, or at least most of the interviews done a while ago - with a fair few dead contributors. So glad that amateur boxing has started to take head protection seriously. It's only a matter of time before pro boxing does, how many more wake up calls do they need?
-
I'd strongly object to the age of deadpooling acceptability being reduce below 18. It's the age at which you must remain in education/training until now which makes sense as the age for deadpool picks.

I wouldn't give money to the ADHD kids, they'll go haywire trying to work out what to spend it on.

2016: Muhammad Ali I really struggle to see anybody likely to die who's death would be more significant.
-
At the point where 2016 easily rivals 2009 and 2013 for most significant year of deaths in this century, if not squeaks past them. Wonder what the winner would be for last century?

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Deathray replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
a) The new skin is fucking awful. Especially on the homepage. b.) the update for Ali's death hasn't carried over to the new server. c) was the switch from vbulletin to IPBoard part of this move, or did I just miss that in the past. -
Nearly Mid-Year Update. Firstly, an apology for the extremely belated nature of this the first full update. I've been busy, still am but fancied a distraction at this stages. Firstly, thank you for the entries this year - without them there'd be no competition, a total of 17 teams entered into this years comp, continuing an upwards trend if only slightly. Below's the who you had when they died and the obits. Due to the way scoring works in this comp it is however still early days, with a death tomorrow being worth 156 times that of a death on January 2nd. Some absolutely massive deaths already this year including Muhammad Ali, Johan Cruyff, Prince and Ronnie Corbett, some of them caught by you some of them not. Some of the people you picked also have the most ridiculously small claims to fame known to man you barrel scrapers... Also shout to gcr for what I believe to be the first hit requiring a foreign language obit with Wolfgang Schnur. It's certainly feels like more people have died this year... As always, if you spot any screw ups let me know. Trying to apply the "showing my working out" to all updates rather just the end of year one from now on. Yet again have to commend the level of research many of you have done. Your jobs must be boring as fuck. Seen as Sir Creeps has decided to enter a set of conjoined twins, maybe it's time to have the conversation. And I thought my rules had covered everything... Are conjoined twins one person for scoring purposes even when the existence of one is dependent on the existence of the other - for example in the Gaylons, who SC has entered, where they share a large number of organs? I'm inclined to count them as two separate people, as they are legally and in reality excepting the fact they are co-dependent, but this seems a bit of a grey area. Does anyone have an objection to this ruling which being made pre-emptively has the twins are still kicking at the remarkable age of 64?

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Deathray replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Is this a genuine question? It's an abbreviation of the old saying Rest in Peace, traditionally said to the dead person as they die, or once they have died. -
Sing a Song for Sixpence - down and out musicians. The taking of peckham 123 - only fools and horses actors Killing Bill - elderly actors named William, Will or Bill.

Yup, might need to take another look at my settings. -
I think this scrapes into qualifying obit territory.

Toss up between Forsyth and Philip, think i'm going to go with the casual racist again.

Hate to point this out, but having too much time on my hands I've noticed Deathray appears to only have 4 cricketers. Cheers fella.

Youwanticewiththat came closest on the initial sweep with 30th May, ajlposh a close second with 11th June. Ali's death is going to dominate the news for the next few days, he's one of the truly iconic figures of that era both because of his sporting achievements and his out of sport life. A truly historic death, probably the first of this magnitude since 2013.
-
In the most respectful and complimentary way - the sooner the better. No-one deserves to live in as much pain as he has for the past few years. It's hardly a surprise, he looked incredibly frail in the 2012 olympic ceremony. A truly remarkable sportsman and activist. I hate when a celebrity death is preceeded by ambulance chasing like this one, much prefer just hearing about it after the persons gone - seems more dignified.

Dead Dave Swarbrick (And Fairport Convention)

Sad loss this one. Always loved Fairport Convention since the first song of theirs I heard. -
A unique in every category. None of them likely to die but still impressive!
