Is it me or did some of the younger royals seem a bit uncomfortable talking about Prince Phil in that show last night?
-
At least you only saw it on the news, we got a two-hour long TV programme my mum insisted on watching. The Queen is not going anywhere.
-
Yes, because the past 100 years have proved the Easter Rising to be resounding success.

Not sure whether to be upset or secretly pleased about this one....... It was intended as a compliment of sorts, but it does mean we'll all know you've been fired when you start posting a 10:30 in the morning. You must be one of the few users on her who doesn't post on the clock. -
Just curious as to whether it would be possible to set up a script that automatically google news'd a celebs name on all top level domain google sites? Surely make obit collecting quicker?

Could've gone on the DL, certainly have been a nice change from the nonagenarians

I really hope RC hasn't actually left over this. The joke Toast made was probably bad taste but it wasn't horrendous enough to warrant leaving the site.. -
Check. I had hoped you would. Check. Point about rules taken. Hurriedly rushes off to check if there's anything the Hares Death Pools rules about team plagiarism....
-
Fuck it, I'd like to withdraw my rendition of TUM's team from the competition, this is probably best for all considered. A good lesson in making sure deadpool rules are well-written though.

Since Deathray posted a carbon copy of The Unknown Man's team, includIng dead picks, I conclude he nicked it. Denial is a river in Africa. I still think it's not sport, but I didn't recognise this, which is of course stupid, and I let the team in. This has two consequences: Should MHDP get a second season, there'll be a rule change: registration by PM only. Ordinarilly I would replace dead picks by subs, but for Deathray's stolen stiffs I won't, just because I can (under rule 8.3) and because it pissed me off, and hope one of The Unknown Man's subs does the right thing. It would be quite unfair if both teams were to finish tied. Hmm, a Schroedinger solution. That would mean I should award probable points. Give that a miss. From http://www.socialdemokraterne.dk/da/nyhedsarkiv/2016/3/mette-frederiksens-mindeord-til-anker-joergensen/I think I read that he died on Sunday, not before. So while he may have done the deed before the competition started, I count Jørgensen as a hit. Well done to the teams who picked him. You realise rule 8.3 would have allowed you to reject my team retrospectively, or even throw it out now, as well?
-
I didn't expect the team to be realistically considered. I'm not trying to be rude, but imagine there is a hundred hits in the MHDP and a thread was started after every one to "collect" obits - the forum would be clogged up with the rubbish. This is an experiment. I'll eventually reorganise the lot. I promise I won't start a topic for each MHDP hit. Keep your DP to a maximum of one thread per year, like the rest of us fucking manage (it's pretty much an unwritten rule at this point). It's not bloody hard and you shouldn't get special dispensation because you're an admin who made the rules for his DP completely and utterly ludicrously difficult, making the HPDP look understandable. Well its not an 'official rule' therefore its not a rule. When somethings been considered normal for years there is no point changing it in instances like this. Could MH not take a list of obit from competitors by PM and save the rest of us the trouble?
-
It's only a curse if you still remember who they are. Or so Peter Falk said. Peter Falk has alzhiemers.

Can we keep the MHDP shit to the MHDP thread please.

He said that although he'd let you compete with a copycat theme, he'd punish you by not using your subs, so you compete with 18 people only. It's not a copycat team. Also, he said not using subs, I thought that meant any additional substitutes. If I'd known that he wasn't going to use the subs he'd already provided I'd have asked to submit a new team. There's a very long precedent of teams with people who died, even years before rather than days as in this case, being submitted to a competition being removed by the game runner with the subs added in their place (see any other dead pool). Oh come on. You posted that team on 14 March. Martin Crowe died on 3 March and Joey Feek on 4 March. You even posted comments on Crowe's thread on 4 March and Feek's on 5 March, so don't pretend you didn't know. That's beside the point, the precedent exists. I forgot they were in my team, as I'd come up with it at the beginning of march before they died and just copied and pasted it into the thread..

what can i say the people of Belgium must be mourned in a way that requires zero effort so that I can feel like a good person. The people of Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, Israel, Pakistan etc aren't important? -

DDP Archive, available on homepage. The full list of teams aren't available from before 2003 for some reason. Sorry but maybe it's my browser -- when I clicked on Archives (long before posting the aforementioned post) it took me to an error message (see below). I assumed it was void of content. SC " The webpage cannot be found HTTP 404 Most likely causes:There might be a typing error in the address. If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date. What you can try: Retype the address. Go back to the previous page.Go back to the previous page. Go to the main site and look for the information you want. More information The link called "DDP Archive" hasn't worked for as long as I've been in the DDP. However, below it... DDP stats & facts DDP Archive Previous winners 2014David Quantick's Showbiz Pals 2013 David Quantick's Showbiz Pals 2012 The Living End 2011 The Living End 2010 Octopus of Odstock 2009 Tonight, Matthew, I'm Going To Be Badly-Torn Boy This bit. Well, the years are links to the DDP year in question. Where you can see the scoreboard, celebrities picked, who died, who picked who, those who died and didn't get obits (which is usually a list of the fucking obscure as hell), and the list of those who had been picked in previous years but not in the year of their death. Some of the early years had Inane Analysis and Insane Analysis, but those have been discontinued, probably as they'd take forever to do, and back in those days only about a dozen people and a dog took part, not 500 plus teams. The teams aren't available from 1996-2002 as I presume that was before the website existed. The "Archive" is effectively is an abandoned place to house previous years and other nick nacks, but the front page pretty much serves the purpose anyway so it's practically irrelevant and needs to be removed. The DDP website does somewhat resemble an overgrown garden, with weeds to be removed, plants to be shifted and new ones to be seeded in... You also need to lay down some good groundwork underneath to house it. One that can detect it that a visitor has come after a new branch has grown in the garden.
