On this day in 1940 , former leader of the Labour Party George Lansbury , died aged 81. He lead the Party for three years between 1932 and 1935. He started of as a radical liberal but evolved into a socialist over the years. In 1912 he helped to set up the now defunct Daily Herald newspaper. Hollywood legend Angela Lansbury is his granddaughter. -
