I used to be an email buddy of a Guardian columnist- I would feel like a traitor if I subscribed to the telegraph lol! But no doubt at all all 3 papers employ excellent journalists. I always found the Telegraphs Janet Daly interesting even if I didn't agree with her when she appeared on the BBC.

You sound quite the film buff! Way before my time but I do think there was something incredibly special about Hollywood films from the 1930s -1950s. Utterly unique. My nan loved Barbara Stanwyck and Bette Davis and she babysat me a lot and had these on !

The Telegraph is not a publication I have a subscription too.

    Last of the Summer Wine

In terms of Keeping up appearances I listened to a podcast last year I think or very early this year of an interview with Judy Cornwell who played Daisy Hyacinths sister. She us 82 and was on sparkling form. I think she is a strong contender to outlive Patricia Routledge. Judy sounded younger than her 82 years and certainly didn't seem to be an old 82 if I can put it that way. Her life sounded very active.

    The Next Tory Leader

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11131747/Boris-Johnson-secretly-approves-funding-30billion-Sizewell-C-nuclear-power-station.html I thought Boris was Pro Liz but apparently Boris has secretly approved a 30bn Nuclear power station that will hugely limit Trusses wiggle room with public finances and tax cuts.

Don't worry about it ! I think there is a lot of truth in the saying your only as old as the man you feel! I love being 28!

    Angela Lansbury

Well on some other internet forums/discussion boards, some were there is a reliable track record of Hollywood/showbiz insiders posting credible gossip/information -Angela Lansbury is now a name being flagged up as someone who is now reportedly seriously ailing health wise.

Are you edging towards using names from the other 100 for your Oldies team in next year's DDP ? It can be so hard deciding to ditch names to take a gamble on others! I just couldn't bring myself to drop golden era actress Jacqueline White!

    The 2022 Crowdsourced Deathlist

I wonder if the ONJ situation will cause the committee to reconsider putting another long term terminal breast cancer case Linda Nolan back on next years list? I think she has cancelled a few appearances this year for health reasons.

Loved him in Twin Peaks- some of his scenes especially around the spirit Bob were unnervingly haunting.

A shame because I think there was real potential for Peggy Mitchells family (Anna played Peggys sister) to mix in with the Butcher family more given Peggys relationship with Frank Butcher . Some more family entanglements could have had real possibilities. I know Anna was only a guest character on EastEnders but I'd have really have liked her to have been given a fuller and longer role.

    Death Anniversary Thread

On this day in 2007 controversial and flamboyant american businesswoman and hotelier Leona Helmsley died aged 87. She was known by the nickname 'The Queen of Mean' because of her cruelly autocratic and tyrannical behaviour. She was once jailed for tax evasion and gave the famous quote "We don't pay taxes. The little people pay taxes". .
