Pumping Them Out In The Birthing Pool 2023
Gooseberry Crumble replied to ladyfiona's topic in Dead Pools
Desperately sad -
Keeping the faith with Joanne Woodward but that faith is being tested...

This is my first ever thread so forgive me if it's error ridden! I spotted a thread called the class of 1926 and I thought given we are on the cusp of 2017 hence the year that people born in 1937 turn the milestone age of 80 and that 1937 seems to be a year particularly rich in talent and iconic names etc I thought why not? Who do you think will be the last one standing? Who do you think will be an early departer from the list? Sorry if I've missed out anybodys favourites. Need to add Gordon Banks just been informed!

Thought she was excellent as the complex bitch Catherine Martell in Twin Peaks.

I'm sure it was a very elegant, thoughtful and classy fart though! Also with a touch of imagination banging a gavel could have more than one meaning...!!
-
This line in the write up for my unique pick William Gage tickled me "Judge William Gage has banged his last gavel" Great obituaries on this brilliant pool as always.

My mistake I wrongly and naively assumed the whole idea of the book was to make money for the charity.
-
Still shocking even if unsurprising.

Rosemary Squires , who is also my joker pick, is a 'hit for me in this pool.
-
Praise the Lord for that!! She is a hit for me on other pools but I had confidence that someone else on the DDP would pick her so felt safe dropping her!!
-
My fears it was going to be destined for the List of the lost thankfully proved wrong! More hits for me soon I reckon.

I have a feeling sadly that next year we are going to lose Sophia Loren and that would tie in with @msc hypothesis/idea that years ending in 4 are often littered with very significant big name deaths. There is no doubt she is a very big and unique icon of cinema and film culture.

Indeed there is an interesting newspaper column on your very point. Part of Rupert Murdochs legacy is the powerful increasingly blame 'the elite' for the worlds problems. Utter cognitive dissonance in my humble opinion but many fall for this nonsense contradiction. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/22/rupert-murdoch-legacy-power-blame-elite-fox-donald-trump-russell-brand
