The death of Yasoturo Koide gives me 348 points and brings my team total to 1052. Rebel Death Race 2016 Scoreboard Spade Cooley 1785 Dr. T 1052 I guess token resistance is better than no resistance.

Rene Angelil is the joker in my rebel team so 702 points I believe. Good chance of finishing this year I think.

I agree with the Skunk on this. I am Australian and was very familiar with the plight of Hassan Asif, but it never occurred to me for a moment that he would be a possibility for any of the Deathlist games. Partly this is naivety, but mostly it is because he was just a regular guy with a sad story, not someone famous. I would really like there to be some way of weeding out these picks on the basis that they are famous only for their death not for their life. Of all of the suggestions I have heard in this forum the one where they need a Wiki page at least one year old I think has the most merit (this would now cater for the Kate Granger types who have now achieved a measure of fame albeit mainly due to their illnesses). It is not up to me to decide on which deaths are more tragic than others, but with the cases of Lauren Hill, Hassan Asif etc there seems something more tragic than the celebrity deaths which are the standard fodder. After loosely following Kate Granger on Twitter last year I couldn't stomach picking her for this year's list. There was something a little too ghoulish about it for my taste. Full marks to the "cadaver dogs" who are finding these picks, they are playing the whistle admirably and it astounds me how well they have scoured the internet to find their teams.

I went to a fancy dress party dressed as Aladdin Sane about 20 years and 25 Kg ago. Wore a pair of pants/tights that were so tight I wore my cricket box underneath to hide my religion. Vale David Bowie.

A little late but here is my list of 2015's Dead Cricketer XI Basil Williams (WI) Arthur Morris (Aus) Tom Graveney (Eng) Brian Close (Eng) Steve Camacho (WI) Hemant Kanitkar (Ind) Richie Benaud (Aus) Clive Rice (SA) Frank Tyson (Eng) Bob Appleyard (Eng) Lindsay Kline (Aus) Vale to all of these men. I will particularly miss Richie of course, but as I have previously mentioned in this forum, Bob Appleyard had a fascinating life story. -
My money is on Murray Walker taking the poll position.

I am happy to run the 2016 Death Race Rebel League for those who missed the deadline (are there any more other than Spade?). The thought of going head to head against a seasoned cadaver dog like Spade fills me with trepidation.

At the risk of breaking some unwritten deathlist rule by mentioning a Kardashian, Rob Kardashian hospitalised with diabetes. http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/reality-tv/rob-kardashian-rushed-to-hospital/news-story/d641b2392bbc2c1ed033526fe7cb938b

This might not be the best thread (and please move it to one more appropriate if it exists), but English DJ Guru Josh, dead at 51. http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/guru-josh-rave-dj-dies-aged-51/news-story/60ef7bf39ab9c29557d0699ef92c4627 He had a bit hit in Oz in 1990 with a catchy tune called Infinity. Knew a German bloke at the time who looked just like him.

I'm not a country music fan, so really not a surprise that I had not heard of Joey Feek until I heard of her (very unfortunate) imminent demise here. Reading about her I didn't get the feeling that she was a deathlist.net type, though eminently worthy for DDP and Deathrace etc.

My No 1 Wishpool entry is Australian "comedian" Dave Hughes.

Mea culpa mea culpa Sad it isn't true, but with all the Phuc's and Phat's etc in thne Vietnamese community I thought it was believable enough. Hope it gave someone a laugh anyway.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American deathlisters. Always reminds me of the joke: Why did the woman have Thanksgiving tattooed on one thigh and Christmas tattooed on the other? Cause her husband always complained that there was never anything good to eat between the holidays. Cheers Dr. T

A man is on an exclusive golf course having a round on his own. He encounters another player on his own and they suggest going around together. After a while they start chatting. What do you do for a living? I'm a stockbroker. You must make good money. Yeah, pretty good. See that house on the hill (pointing at a mansion not far from the course), that's my house. Very nice. What about you, what do you do for a living? I'm a hitman. Wow, that's amazing. How do you kill people? I shoot them (and with that he goes into his bag and brings out his rifle complete with telescopic sights). I am such a good shot that I don't charge by the kill I charge by the shot. $50,000 per shot. Can I have a look? The stockbroker looks through the sights towards his house and sees his business partner and his wife nude in the bedroom. That fucking bastard business partner of mine is fucking my wife. Look I have lots of money, can you fix them for me? Sure...what would you like done. Well that filthy bitch wife of mine you can shoot her in the head, but I need my business partner so can you shoot his dick off. Ok. He sets up his rifle and stands there for ages waiting to take the shot. What's going on? Just give me a few more seconds and I think I can save you $50,000.

The best I have heard for a while...pretty sure it is legit - Phuc Dat Bich http://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/phuc-dat-bich-says-thanks-after-his-facebook-passport-photo-goes-viral/news-story/e29da394a920deb2e78ec6b13cd9f0c9

One of the better shots for 2016 is Betty Cuthbert. The attached article is from May this year and certainly the timbre of the article suggests that she may be on the slide. Ironically, Ron Clarke is quoted and he died less than a month after the article's publication. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/weekend-australian-magazine/betty-cuthbert-multiple-sclerosis-and-the-gift-of-rhonda-gillam/story-e6frg8h6-1227346823288

Reg Grundy made my personal 50 for the first time this year. No reason other than being old. Other random old Aussies on the watch list are Flo Bjelke-Peterson, Lou Richards, Sir Ninian Stephen (ex G-G) and Bob Hawke (turns 86 in a couple of weeks and seems to be aging rapidly). None of those are front page news I know. My hit rate with random old Aussies is not great-I think Joyce Jacobs (Esme from A Country Practice) is the only Aussie hit I have struck who I picked purely on the basis of age.

@ Youwanticewiththat I think under the standing orders of deathlist.net forums I am now legally obliged to call you a twunt (or summat). I think there would have been some quite harrowing series in the 70s, watching the older style English cricketers like Edrich and co (my favourite was David Steele who was described as the bank clerk who went to war), who had to face Roberts, Holding, Lillee, Thomson etc. who were playing a much fiercer version of the game. Of course there is the famous story of Colin Cowdrey who was drafted into the 1974/75 Ashes squad in Australia. Came out to bat the first time having not met some of the Australian players and extends his hand to Jeff Thomson (and according to Wiki) "Mr Thomson, I believe? How good to meet you." Colin Cowdrey "That's not going to help you fatso, piss off." Jeff Thomson[27] But Thommo is a bogan of the first order and not getting any better with age. -
I would personally pay the appearance fee for Billy Joel to sing Only the Good Die Young at his funeral. Actually wish I could but unless Billy is giving discounts......

@ Youwanticewiththat - John Edrich would be an excellent candidate for the team except for the fact he is still alive and this is a team for those dying in 2015. He still has the best part of a couple of months to put his name in front of the selection panel (i.e. me) and dying would go a long way to seeing him selected in the team. At the risk of appearing ghoulish (not really a problem on this site), Martin Crowe has been pencilled into the vacant middle order spot, but the wicketkeeping position is still very much up for grabs. Australia's oldest living test cricketer is Len Maddocks who was a wicketkeeper, but let's see who else can make a case for selection. @ time, Yes Barrie Meyer is the frontrunner for the position at the moment but he would be the odd man out in a team where most players have extensive test experience. But at the moment, the position is his to lose. -

Just gone back through the thread and seen that I have forgotten Brian Close. So 3 more spots to fill. Ideally an opening batsman, a middle order batsman and a wicketkeeper. Looks like an excellently balanced bowling attack. -

It has been a big year for cricket deaths, I might try and pick an XI at the end of the year. So far (just off the top of my head), Arthur Morris, Tom Graveney, Richie Benaud, Clive Rice, Frank Tyson, Bob Appleyard, Lindsay Kline. I'm sure that I can find another 4 names. Maybe there's a wicketkeeper in there somewhere? -
A couple of Australian deaths in the last 24 hours or so. Tragically (especially coinciding with Melbourne Cup day), former Brisbane-based jockey, Tim Bell, has died after a fall from a high rise building in Singapore. He was 22. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-04/brisbane-jockey-tim-bell-dies-in-high-rise-fall-in-singapore/6910406 Less tragically, Judy Cassab, 2 time winner of the Archibald prize (Australia's premier art prize for portraiture) has died aged 95. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-03/acclaimed-portrait-painter-judy-cassab-dies-aged-95/6909614
