Mik Kilgore, a former West Philadelphia High and Temple University basketball standout, died Friday morning from complications related to a heart attack he suffered last week. Mr. Kilgore, 48, was recently hired as the Girard College boys' basketball coach and was directing workouts at the school for the coming season when he was stricken. A 6-foot-9 forward at Temple, Mr. Kilgore scored 1,471 points in 124 games and played on three NCAA tournament teams for the Owls from 1988-92. SC

Mari Hulman George, former chair of the board of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, died early Saturday. She was 83. Hulman George was IMS chairman from 1988 through 2016. Her father, Anton "Tony" Hulman Jr., purchased the speedway in 1945 and saved it from demolition after World War II, and racing and the facility became a staple of the Hulman family. She also fielded an entry in the Indianapolis 500 in 1962 and 1963, with husband Elmer George as the driver. He finished a career-best 17th in 1962 and received relief help from Paul Russo and A.J. Foyt during that race. SC

HOWEVER -- as I stated elsewhere, I honestly with all my heart believe the former Governor of Louisiana should and WILL be on the ACTUAL DeathList 2019. They like big searchable names, and people who are either ancient or quite ill. Blanco is quite ill (stage 4 cancer for over a year now). I just don't see how she will make it to 2020, but she could pull a 'Bracknell' on us (Bracknell now a Malaprop for not dying when by all accounts you should). She should be D40, actual DL, and will certainly be on my teams throughout DL 2019. And she should definitely be part of Crowdsourced.

Blanco was just at a ceremonial thing-a-ma-jig at Univ of Louisiana-Lafayette not a month ago. She's upright and at least that much active. Literally zero percent chance of her dying before New Years. Will she see 2020? I'd say nearing a zero percent chance of that too lol! She better not only be D40 -- Kathleen Blanco should be on the actual DeathList. Big name, big health problems. SC

Paul Zimmerman, the longtime Sports Illustrated NFL writer known as "Dr. Z" (COULD IT BE????) for his analytical approach, died Thursday. He was 86. NBC Sports football writer Peter King confirmed Zimmerman's death. King worked with Zimmerman at Sports Illustrated, and completed Zimmerman's autobiography, "Dr. Z: The Lost Memoirs of an Irreverent Football Writer." Zimmerman had three strokes in 2008 that ended his writing career after 29 years as Sports Illustrated's lead pro football writer.
