Back story: Migori (Kenya) Governor Okoth Obado’s mobile phone was traced to Homa Bay on the day Rongo University student Sharon Otieno was murdered and not Nairobi as he had told detectives early this week. Sources at the DCI said there was also mobile phone communication between the governor and some of those already in custody on the day Nation Media Journalist Barack Oduor and Sharon were abducted. Obado will be charged on Monday with the murder of Sharon who was killed two weeks ago. The governor is spending the weekend at the Gigiri Police Station after Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti ordered that he be detained yesterday as detectives established that they had enough evidence linking him to the murder. -- he murdered/had her murdered cuz she was pregnant with his child i.e. an affair. So now....according to a tweet: "Governor Okoth Obado did not attempt suicide,he collapsed @ Gigiri Police station, was rushed to hospital bt is now back in custody. However, his 1st son (Don Totto) attempted suicide & he's being hospitalized.Journalists were barred from accessing the hospital....." Sorry I don't keep up with this thread much, but maybe those who do can piece together a name to this. I know it's not the deported American mentioned above, he was 95. A 94-year-old German man will face trial in November charged with complicity in the mass murders at the Stutthof concentration camp during World War II, a German court in Münster said Friday. WHY NO NAME you ask? "Now in his 90s, he'll be tried as a juvenile, as he was younger than 21 at the time of the alleged crimes." GDamn ridiculous. SC

Charles Rappleye, a resolute Los Angeles investigative reporter and editor who wrote critically acclaimed books about historical figures, has died at 62. (Ironically, this is the next sentence -- editor please!) Rappleye, who battled cancer for six years, had been working on a book about little-remembered President Zachary Taylor when he died at home in Echo Park on Saturday. I didn't know Zachary Taylor was alive much less living in Echo Park. SC

For the first time ever police in India invited the media to attend one of its ‘encounters,’ news of the invitation soon spread and regional and national reporters lined up at the location in the Machua village within 15 minutes. The moment police shot dead two alleged murderers has been caught on camera as officers invited journalists to attend what was branded a “cold-blooded” killing, local media reports. SC

Distressed investor Marble Ridge Capital LP said in a letter to Neiman Marcus Group Ltd LLC that the luxury department store company may be in default on its debt after it moved its Mytheresa business into an entity belonging to the retailer’s private equity owners. “These recent actions threaten the viability of a storied franchise that includes marquee brands such as Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman,” another luxury department store also owned by the retailer, said Dan Kamensky, managing partner of Marble Ridge, in a statement about the letter, parts of which were made public on Friday. Ain't called 'Needless Markup' for no reason. Ta! SC

Former Univ of Pittsburgh offensive lineman Alex Officer has been diagnosed with (osteosarcoma) cancer. His agent Jordan Byrd confirmed the news on Tuesday. The four-year starter at center and guard graduated in 2017 and had been seeking to catch on with an NFL team. Pittsburgh Sports Now reports that he participated in summer programs with the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders, where he didn’t make the cut. SC -
Pretty sure he's getting his ducks in a row.

Terminally ill people should have the right to a "dignified assisted death," former South African archbishop Desmond Tutu said Friday, following a murder charge against a local campaigner for the legalization of euthanasia. He has previously said he would like the option of choosing an assisted death and does not want to be kept alive at whatever cost. Sounds like he knows something and is getting ready. SC

A man bitten by a lioness at Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night after he was rescued by zoo security officers, officials say. The man, who was bitten in the foot, is expected to survive. The incident took place about 11:30 p.m., according to Lyn Myers, general curator at the zoo. She said security officers were aware that someone had entered the zoo grounds and were looking for the intruder when they heard someone calling for help from the lion enclosure. The man apparently crossed over a four-foot barrier fence near the enclosure, then began climbing a mesh fence in front of the exhibit when a lioness grabbed his foot. There are two lionesses in the enclosure, Zamaya, 4 years old, and Kiki, in her mid-teens. Myers said she did not know which animal grabbed the man’s foot, but the lioness released him when security officers arrived. SC Here's the pride of Chaffee Zoo lions getting treats on Lion's Day 2017. They almost got em a treat last night, too. https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article166561687.html
