If you want to take a real flyer on a name for a solo hit -- Fox News has a write up on one of the last iron lung users in the U.S. Who knows.... "For over 35 years, a Missouri woman has enlisted her husband and a kind friend to help her go through the hourlong process of climbing into what is believed to be one of the last remaining iron lungs still functioning today. Mona Randolph, now 82, was struck by polio as an adult in 1956, and relies on the 75-year-old machine to live six nights per week, The Kansas City Star reported." SC

Canadian rookie Robert Wickens was in hospital with "orthopaedic injuries" after a frightening airborne crash in the early stages of the IndyCar Pocono race won by ex-Formula One racer Alexander Rossi. Wickens, of Guelph, Ontario, was rushed to hospital by air ambulance on Sunday after he collided with Ryan Hunter-Reay's IndyCar at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. The collision came as they exited turn two and caused Hunter-Reay's car to careen into the wall, and Wickens' car was pulled along with it. Video here. SC

A Florida animal hospital's beloved community alpaca dies after driver feeds it Doritos, Cheese Nips, and peanuts. The animal hospital said a man in a blue car has dumped food onto the field multiple times a week and that they had spoken to him multiple times. Most recently, he left three boxes of animal crackers, a large bag of Doritos, two boxes of Cheese Nips and two bags of whole peanuts. The hospital said this was the first time peanuts were dumped, and the youngest alpaca overindulged. SC

A is for Azreen, Azreen Manan that is. Surely I won’t get yet another obit but as I say, the only people guaranteed not to QO are the living. She was 41 btw so I’m losing the 1938 bonus as well. Pish...!

Bad year for the Detroit Lions continues. Paul Naumoff, the former Pro Bowl linebacker who spent 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, has died. He was 73. Naumoff died Friday at his home in Lenoir City. Naumoff played for the Lions from 1967-78. The former third-round draft pick reached the Pro Bowl in the 1970 season and won the Lem Barney Award as the Lions' defensive MVP in 1975. SC -

I'm slightly stunned an English language obit so soon, if at all. None of the updates have been. SC -
And so my friend succumbed to his bad ticker in the early hours today, 8-18-2018, age 53.

I'm sorry but you really need to explain what you meant by this.

Team Gris Gris shall respond accordingly.

Given the nature of this site, I'd be interested to know how you came to the conclusion that anyone's wit around here was quick.
-
I'll give that to you, but otoh there was probably a place for her or someone else in light of a few ridiculous and dreadful choices (Ronnie Wood for starters. What's the set of circumstances in which he dies at 70?). I won't belabor the point. But yes, hindsight can be 20-20. SC

Ahhh, well if it was 2011 all is forgiven.

Is there a doctor in the house? He is having organ failure. Do organs unfail once they fail? The notion sounds absurd, but I may be totally off base. SC

Extremely popular pick around these parts, Mr. Joe Vento, FINALLY has some sort of update. According to this publication's 'best photos of the week' section, Joe Vento, 100, was recognized as citizen of the month, during a city council meeting at Las Vegas City Hall in Las Vegas, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018. So he's alive and kicking in Vegas. In a wheelchair though. SC

You mean to tell me Franklin had previously been on the list, but after being hospitalised with pancreatic woes, they took her OFF? Here I thought it was just a bad 'miss'. Now it's a malfeasance! SC

Hold on. David Bowie's DEAD?!

Justin Credible arrested for "violating a protective order", which could quite possibly mean he's just beaten the shit out of said wife. Sounds to me like he's got that timeline pretty close then.

I was going to say, there is a lot a glad-handing and liking going on here, when 1/3 of the names haven't a fahkin chance of an English language obit. SC

Another absolute nobody. 'Acclaimed'.

He's a nobody. Don't post every person who participated in the arena please. I'm begging you now. We got like a couple thousand still alive....
