Former major league pitcher Tony Cloninger, perhaps best known for hitting two grand slams in a game, has died. He was 77. Cloninger died Tuesday. He had worked as a consultant for the Boston Red Sox since 2002. Cloninger went 113-97 during 12 seasons in the big leagues, mostly with the Braves. On April 12, 1966, Cloninger threw the first pitch for the new Atlanta (Braves) franchise. He had 11 career homers, making his 2 grand slam game all the more incredible. SC

I hope not. B teams are for people that can’t make a decision. Make a decision and have some testicular fortitude ffs. I don’t even know how that horseshit got started. You’re supposed to have a main team and if you like, up to two THEME teams. ‘People who didn’t make my main team’ isn’t a theme, unless you’re a coward. Make a decision, be a man/woman, and hope for the best. SC

Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards was giving another former Gov Kathleen Blanco some award a few days ago. In doing so, Edwards relayed a story of a poor woman who everyday walked out on the porch of her shotgun house and thanked God for the day. Next door lived an atheist who chided her for thinking God had anything to do with the sun, the rain, etc. One day she prayed for God to please send her food as she had none and was starving. The next morning she walked out and found a bag of groceries on her porch. She immediately started thanking God when the atheist neighbor interrupted her. “You old fool, God didn’t get you those groceries, I did!” She fell on her knees, thanked God for the groceries and, “even better, for getting the devil to pay for them.”

Except that a year ago ‘immunotherapy’ would have been called ‘alternative’ treatment, now it’s the only thing prolonging life and actually attacking cancer cells.

I just wanted to applaud charon for making a post without the word cunto appearing. Excellent progress, although ‘count’ is an anagram and quite likely subliminal.

Former receiver Frank Clarke, a member of the original Cowboys team of 1960, died Thursday morning in McKinney at 84. Clarke was the last original Cowboy to retire. The NFL Championship Game of 1967, the storied Ice Bowl, was his final game. According to a 2008 SportsDay profile of Clarke, he was: - the first black football player at the University of Colorado - the first black star on a Cowboys team. - the first black sports TV anchor in Dallas. - the first black NFL analyst at CBS. Sir Creep has tried twice to launch a ‘famous black firsts’ thread but Admins won’t allow it. So consider this an entry. SC -
