Before I open this link, I believe I’m experiencing a culture clash. I don’t claim to be versed on all ‘57 varieties’ but I’ve not heard of ‘salad cream’ so changing it’s name is of little effect. I know there is salad spread which is their bullshit ‘mayo’. There’s also a creamed concoction with horseradish that may be called sandwich spread. Authorities say a woman has died after apparently being struck by a falling tree branch while jogging at a park in Indianapolis. WXIN-TV reports 42-year-old Kathryne McCammon was found dead Thursday of multiple blunt force trauma in Eagle Creek Park and no foul play is suspected. Severe thunderstorms were moving through Indiana around the time when the Greenwood woman was found dead. SC

Jerry Hopkins, an author and veteran Rolling Stone writer that served as the magazine's Los Angeles corespondent in the late Sixties, died in Bangkok, Thailand on June 3rd after a long illness. He was 82. His wife Lamyai confirmed Hopkins' death. In 1980, Hopkins wrote No One Here Gets Out Alive, the definitive Doors biography that was used as the basis for Oliver Stone's 1991 movie. SC

Bruce Kison, a pitcher who helped the Pittsburgh Pirates win the World Series in 1971 and 1979 and spent three decades in player development and scouting roles, has died of cancer. He was 68. His wife said Kison died Saturday at the Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, Florida, near his home. He had been diagnosed with renal cancer on Feb. 14. Kison won Game 4 of the 1971 World Series — the first night game in World Series history. SC
