What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Persian music all day every day. Don't know and don't care what it is..... this music soothes and attacks my soul at the same time. Opening track from Nayaz's 3rd album, I'm listening to it complete of course, but no such link on Youtube.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2019

This may be an iteration of your post, but maybe not. Either way, an updated update by a few weeks. 2019 possibility perhaps, but going to be a swing and miss for 2018 almost certainly for those who took a chance. SC

    Interesting Ways To Die...

A Princeton man is dead after a shooting and subsequent car crash off Old Pisgah Road in Princeton this afternoon. West Virginia State Police Senior Trooper D.C. Graham said Bailey Dickerson, 18, died after being shot during an altercation. Dickerson was driving his car when he was shot and then crashed it into a garage on Toni Lane. Dickerson died from the gunshot wound, not the crash, but details of the altercation have not been released. The shooter is in custody.

    The Dead of 2018

Funky Cold Medina. My entry for biggest POS to die 2018. Capt. Ernest L. Medina, the company commander accused and acquitted of responsibility for killing hundreds of Vietnamese civilians in the My Lai Massacre, has died. Medina, 81, died May 8, according to an obituary by the Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette, Wisc. The cause of death was not listed. As commander of Company C of the 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade (Light) of the 23rd (Americal) Division, Medina was one of some 30 soldiers the Army accused of participating in or covering up the murders. On the morning of March 18, 1968, Medina and the three platoons of his infantry company entered My Lai village in South Vietnam’s south central coastal region. They had suffered losses in the past few weeks while never having engaged with the enemy and were urged to be aggressive in the village they’d been told would contain only enemy fighters. The village in fact contained only unarmed old men, women, children and babies. But over the next few hours, soldiers went on a rampage of murder, rape and torture, in which at least 347 civilians died, according to Army investigation records. The Vietnamese government lists 504 killed. SC

    Animal Antics

Three people are recovering from injuries after confusing young bobcats for domesticated kittens. The injuries happened as the three were trying to feed the kittens after discovering them in a back alleyway. After the victims began to suspect the creatures were wild, they contacted San Antonio Animal Care Services which confirmed they are indeed bobcats. SC

    The Hare's Death Pool

Did....... did you just attempt some mental gymnastics to distinguish something called a 'death announcement' and something called an 'obiturary'? LMAO Well let's see who the DL mental wunderkinds are who buy that argument being made whilst dancing on the head of a pin. In the strange lands I come from an obituary is -- wait for it -- an announcement of one's death. Without looking up webster.com...I'm guessing that is pert near the exact definition. Nathaniel would be proud. And at the same time disappointed. SC

Actually my mind was doing other things than thinking yesterday. The original link to the Hartford Courant(newspaper) has a link to her obit, which they've parked on Legacy. So it's in the Hartford Courant. I got all excited and opened the actual obit when in fact I should have back-tracked. SC

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

Yessir -- I'm hoping someone in the UK who is a Mariah fan LOL picks up on that. Hey, Larissa has Ms. Carey in her corner, it may be enough. EDIT: Looks like a shout out from NBC's 'Today' show site. Who knows? And Today's Megyn Kelly's FB page. EDIT #2: Looks like a shout out from Yahoo UK. Will a QO source pick up on it? Starting to think this went from a 2% chance to a 20% chance. Back to a 10% chance. Daily Mail does a big write-up on Mariah just yesterday, and no mention of Larissa or tweet. So they're out.

Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Chuck Knox has died at the age of 86, Knox's granddaughter confirmed Sunday in a tweet. Knox led the Seahawks to their first-ever playoffs in his first season as Seahawks head coach in 1983. He went on to coach the team through the 1991 season. SC

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

A bit interesting that DDT has a fair number of 'standards' on his team (Steffanson, McCain, Moss, Bracknell) but left Jowell off. Not that so far there is any damage from advancing, just found it interesting.

    Boxing Clever?

I got the same deal going on with Pat Bowlen this month. Denver sports writer (and panelist on ESPN show) said he has three sources close to the family that Pat's spiraling down. Denver Broncos spokesperson denied it within a day. Who to believe?

    Vignerons

Oh you'll have to sue me in DL court. I know this person is a brewer of beer, but this thread seems appropriate. File the court documents.... Seems like Rob Pfeiffer of Pfeiffer beer fame (apparently part of Blue Earl Brewing Company now, where Rob is head brewer?) has Lyme disease. But more importantly he fought Stage 4 melanoma in 2002 — cancer that had spread to internal organs. He underwent chemotherapy and came out of it 'cancer-free'. Yeah it's been a while, but the foundation is laid. SC
  19. Sir Creep

    Boxing Clever?

Actually a spokesperson denied it would be the 'last time he was seen in public' which equates to the same thing I suppose. But don't put words in Ricksen's mouth. Since the announcement he has neither said anything nor been seen in public, and I assure you is a few days closer to death. SC

Breast Cancer Research Foundation (well FB page at least). Trust her to die on a busy weekend (Mother's Day here in the States) and while on foreign soil. She was at a wedding though, so sob story, maybe a Monday/Tuesday obit once people back to work. LOL heaven forbid I get points for her....I may move into 15th place! LOL

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

Well that may not have taken long (15 minutes lol) Larissa Podermanski DEAD May 10 while in Barbados for her cousin's wedding. As Sir Creep famously says: "The only people who can't get a QO are the living". So we shall give it a few days and see if she avoids joining the Lost. I have great doubts. SC

No no.... looks like I need newsprint. We shall wait. Other cancer blogs have it. But that's where we are at presently. She was a huge Mariah Carey fan and met her etc. Here's Mariah's Tweet. That's not a euphemism...LOL.... Please allow me to be the only person in DP history to have Mariah Carey as a qualifying obit source. oh that's rich.

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

A slightly misplaced obit, as her blog 'Metestatically Speaking' was followed by many and she made appearances on daily TV talk shows a couple years ago post-diagnosis, Larissa Podermanski died May 10 while at her cousin's wedding in Barbados. I knew she was beginning liver failure but sounded like she had a couple months left which is why I didn't pick her in the Cup this month. Alas. RIP Larissa. SC
