    Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness

Since no dedicated Irish thread, this will do. Charles Whelan of Sutton, Dublin, former Irish Ambassador to Spain, Algeria, Tunisia, Japan, Greece, Israel and the former USSR, died March 28, 2018 at the age of 93. SC

    Political Frailty

A retired real-estate agent, Ted Land served in the Georgia Senate, representing District 16 from 1979-1990. He also served on Columbus (GA) Council for two and a half years in the mid-1990s. Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton said Land, 81, was pronounced dead at Columbus Hospice on Moon Road at 1:14 a.m. Saturday. I added that last sentence cuz of its absurd detail, pretty odd I think. Looks like Ted Land is getting some land, at the cemetery. SC

    University Presidents?

The former president of Edinboro University has died. Foster Diebold was head of the university from 1979 until 1996. During his tenure, Edinboro State College became Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. The Diebold Center for Performing Arts is named in his honor and he was inducted into the Edinboro University Athletics Hall Of Fame in 2006. Foster Diebold was 85. SC

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

Damn, Joey, Ray Wilkins is a lock. I’ve been sans internet for 48 hours and looks like that’s when Wilkins’ party got started. Never saw it, but when four teams have him I knew I screwed up. Ugh. Well, you’re up 1-nil. SC

    Shivakumara Swami

Swami isn't famous to anyone besides his homies and dead poolers. No way 1 on 500 Americans have a clue who you are talking about. Or Brits. Or Ruskies. Or Japanese. Or Aussies. blah blah blah.

    Female 'Firsts'

Peg Lautenschlager, the first (and only) woman to serve as Wisconsin attorney general, has died. She was 62. Her husband says she died early Saturday, and had been diagnosed with brain cancer. Makes me want to drink a Goldschlager. SC

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

Worth a mention perhaps that Dead Cow and Sir C have held serve with ND Tiwari, and remain the only two keeping the faith both rounds 2 and 3 despite his son's statement that 'although still on life support, he is out of ICU and in a private room (so therefore is improving). I'm surprised it didn't chase off Dead Cow, or me frankly (though he was my final pick). It's nice to see someone else thinking like me about that update. Right or wrong lol.

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

Damn, you too....you'd have had 6 of my 11. Nice catch on Bishop Foley, and we gave Thacker the 'C' on his sweater for team captain this month.

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

I posted on social media along the lines of my team is a bunch of people who won't see July, but almost certainly will see May. I am a month early on a few of them, and held onto them hoping to advance but I can't sit on them any longer even though i think none of them should die in April (Hileman, Foley, McEwen). And a few others who are maybe more rumour than fact. As I said there and will say here, my entire April team is banking on Thibodeau, Thacker and Da-Ren lighting the lamp (of the crematorium), with an assist scored for Tajima. The rest are filler and if any perish, it's pure luck, happenstance and lagniappe. And now we each have Da-Ren so cross him off. So if the other two don't come through, I may well have posted a nil. Anyway, two good squads on paper, best of luck Joey. SC (Edit: Agreed, as I sit here Da-Ren is one of my 3 best chances, now a wash, and I think it may be a month early for Manan but she was certainly worth a punt in April cuz I didn't want to be caught with my opponent having her solo. I had Wouk as my #12 backup, and REALLY struggled with my last team member #11 between ND Tiwari, Wouk, and Mahmoud Abbas--who YOU have. I put a star next to Abbas' name which typically will land them on my team, but he got pushed back as I started getting the mojo and felt he had a month or two at worst yet. So you may prove me wrong in the end, just wanted you to know he was damn near a Month-To-Month Tenant for SirC.)

Sparky the bison, 14, died this week at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge in Iowa. He was born at the National Bison Range in Montana, and transported to Neal Smith when he was two years old. Sparky received international attention after surviving a lightning strike in July 2013. Although he was badly scarred for the rest of his life, he remained part of the social structure of the herd and became a symbol for the endurance for his species. He fathered three calves prior to the lightning strike. Sparky will be missed by his many fans. SC

    Law And Order

U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Reinhardt, long regarded as one of the nation's most liberal appellate court jurists, died in Los Angeles today of a heart attack at age 87. For those who need a U.S. legal primer, we have state legal systems and the federal legal system (we also have separate laws, though many states have adopted the language of federal laws such as the 14th Amendment). Our federal system has two courts in each state (usually an Eastern and Western District Court) and then 12 Courts of Appeals, each one representing the interestest of usually 4-5 states. Next step is the U.S.Supreme Court. And make no mistake, not all federal courts of appeals are equal....ones containing California or New York carry more clout than Montana and Mississippi. So....this judge, being on the 9th (Fed) Ct of App in California was rather important in the matter of U.S. jurisprudence. SC

    Stefan Karl Stefansson

I hope that means you put him in your lineup cuz it'll be a wasted spot. I don't see any correlation between dying and deleting a Twitter account. On the contrary, one would make sure their social media footprints left a lasting impression. But hey, it takes all kinds, maybe you are correct on this one. SC

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

The challengers are always outstanding and like I said in order to be the best I had to beat the best. It's an honour and maybe a stunner I slid past gcreptile. Whichever of you two I face will be equally as daunting. SC

    Ice Hockey Players

I think you're right overall, that unless you are a top 5 hockey star in your era, getting a UK obit is going to be a challenge. That said, Odelein had an actual career vs Lakovich's 'cup of coffee' in the NHL, as they say. Even if Lyle was a lock-cinch to die, that obit is going to be worrisome for DDP purposes. At least I've come to that conclusion. SC

    The Deathlist Cup 2018

Sorry for great delays msc I explained as briefly as I could. Best of luck to everyone advancing. Looks like I may play a coin toss. As usual I don't like my team, two of my three sure things died a week before the starting line. SC (Edit: Haha well played Joey, except I went with beauty over age this round if that's any hint. I did line up a couple centenarians as #12-13.)

    How Old Are Dl Users?

Dr Who I’ve only watched a handful of episodes, not my thing I guess First film: I can recall seeing the original Jungle Book with me mum so 1969-ish? First concert was if we are literal about it Johnny and June Carter Cash. I was like 4 and I have no idea why I attended with my dumb parents, no babysitter would have me As a teen I saw Wild Cherry open for the Average White Band, so I have to suffer a life of admitting that, usually to a psychiatrist. My next concert was The Cars opening for Ted Nugent so I redeemed myself rather quickly. First celeb crush....I really haven’t any idea. Any girl who hit the screen who had spunk, looked ok, and was my age I suppose. SC
