Upshaw fell to the ground with about 50 seconds left in Saturday night's game. He was taken off the court on a stretcher. Upshaw was 26 years old. He played three seasons at Illinois State and wrapped up his college eligibility with one season at Hofstra. SC

Former Minister of Labour and Productivity, and later Works and Housing, Dr. Hassan Lawal, has died at the age of 64. The deceased passed on at about 8:30 p.m. last Saturday at a Turkey Hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness. Late Lawal was appointed a federal minister in 2004 by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. He was equally retained in that capacity by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2017. SC

Bristol Rugby club announced second row Joe Batley has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. Batley is just 21 years old. He joined Bristol from Gloucester Rugby this summer and has made 11 appearance for the Greene King IPA Championship leaders. Following medical investigations it was confirmed by the club on Thursday the lock has Hodgkin Lymphoma. SC
