I think those are fair assessments.

Charlie Davis, who enjoyed a long career with thoroughbreds, died of cancer today, at the age of 78. Davis was diagnosed with lung cancer, just a few weeks ago. Davis' career included working as an exercise rider with horses like Kentucky Derby winner, Riva Ridge. But, he was best known for his work with legendary Triple Crown winner, Secretariat. SC

Leaning on the side of the journalist here. "Sources close to the singer admitted that the family is very worried and that in the last hours "there have been moments of many nerves". The "Prince of Song", 69, weighs less than 45 kilos . Unable to walk on his own feet, doctors and authorities had to enter the aircraft to transport him to the ambulance that would take him to the hospital." SC

Russian and Syrian government forces have killed at least 136 civilians over the past 48 hours in Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of the capital Damascus, according to residents and monitoring groups. On Monday, 30 civilians were killed in air raids; on the following day, 80 more were killed, and on Wednesday, another 26 were killed. At least 22 children and 21 women were among the dead. Damn people getting in the way of a perfectly good war! SC

Chicago police were investigating an allegation of domestic abuse filed just weeks before former Temptations lead singer Dennis Edwards died. Edwards, 74, died Thursday night at Mercy Hospital. He had been ill for months. He suffered a stroke last year in St. Louis, and had come to Chicago for rehab. Police said it’s unclear if Edwards’ death was connected to a domestic violence allegation filed last month. The report was filed on Jan. 8, and alleged Edwards was the victim of domestic violence in December. CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards obtained the order of protection that alleges Edwards’ wife, Brenda, tried to suffocate him by holding his head facedown on a bed. SC

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Is there an award for ‘fringiest of fringes’, cuz this should win for 2018. First, I’m not sure that DJ Khaled counts as famous, but that’s our starting point. Second, we are talking about his fiancé, so not even official family yet. Third, it’s not his fiancé, but rather her younger brother who was shot dead at an apartment in the Bronx on Sunday night (February 4). Jonathan Tuck — the 25-year-old younger brother of Khaled’s fiancée, Nicole Tuck — was reportedly trying to purchase marijuana when he was shot in the face at around 9:15 p.m. local time. SC -
How many times you going to post that?

Good synopsis. Except you left out the part where smokin hot self-centered Maria ALSO had a brain tumour last year, like mother like daughter. And like dog.

A Scottish farmer frantically called cops to report A TIGER in his cow shed, sparking an armed police standoff! Bruce Grubb, 24, was throwing a housewarming party when he spotted the bizarre sight and called police, fearing his pregnant cows were about to be devoured. The frightened farmer said the first officer to respond to the scene was so scared that he “refused to get out of the squad car.” North East Police even checked a local wildfire park to see if they had an escaped tiger on the loose. After armed cops engaged in a 45-minute “standoff,” they realized the supposedly terrifying beast was actually just a big plush toy. SC

If cattle staged an armed takeover of the United States, South Dakota would be the place to start. There are more cattle per person in South Dakota than in any other state according to calculations by the American Farm Bureau Federation. If each South Dakotan was apportioned a share of all the state's cattle, we would have 4.6 head apiece. It's a matter of when, not if. SC

A man who claims that Earth is flat tried to leave it in a homemade rocket Saturday but failed to overcome the gravitational force of a 13,166,800,000,000,000,000,000,000-pound sphere directly beneath him. In fairness to Mike Hughes, he knows how to build a rocket. He built them for many years under the precepts of classical physics, when he was still a relatively conventional daredevil, which is to say, one who believed Earth is round. But Saturday marked Hughes's third aborted launch since he declared himself a flat-earther last year and announced a multipart plan to fly to space by the end of 2018 so he could prove astronauts have been lying about the shape of the planet. Hughes blamed technical difficulties — possibly a bad O-ring (snark) — for his steam-powered rocket's failure to ignite this weekend in the Mojave Desert. SC

Maria Menounos's 17-year old dog, Baby Menounos, lost her battle with pancreatitis and kidney failure on Monday. Baby died while she was away working for the Super Bowl, but that her husband Keven Undergaro was by the senior dog’s side the entire time. Ahhh but is it that simple? I say NOT! Menounos got married on New Years, and may I suggest her new husband planned all along 'the first thing that goes is that goddamn mutt'. Proof: Baby died while Maria was away working for the Super Bowl, but that her husband Keven Undergaro was by the senior dog’s side the entire time. I have Maria's mother (Litsa) on my DDP team, so we are closing in! C'mon Reaper! SC

American Football Players

Former Alabama Crimson Tide pass rush specialist Jeremy Nunley, a part of one of the most heralded defensive lines in Alabama football history, has died at the of 46. Nunley, a native of Tennessee, suffered a heart attack Monday night. Jeremy Nunley was an All-SEC defensive lineman in 1993. He was taken in the second round of the NFL Draft and went on to play professionally for the Houston Oilers and Carolina Panthers. He later went into the pharmaceutical business in Tuscaloosa. I'm thinking that last sentence has a lot to do with his demise. Time will tell. SC -
Miss Michigan Scholarship Pageant executive director Shelley Taylor died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. Taylor, 73, of Spring Lake, took over as director of the pageant during June 2006, after Miss Michigan 2006 Angela Corsi was crowned. Taylor then oversaw the crowning of 10 Miss Michigans, one of whom became Miss America. Sidebar: Sir Creep has a personalized autographed photo of Miss America from Michigan. SC

Pretty big name in Michigan politics, though not Milliken or Conyers or Dingell, all of whom are DDP worthy. Former Michigan Congressman Joe Knollenberg has died at the age of 84, a family member has confirmed to FOX 2. The family member says Joe died from complications from Alzheimer's disease, and that he had been in a memory care facility in Troy for the last two and a half years. SC

True enough, she wasn't terribly memorable until she died and the past 'famous' event came racing back to life.

I don't want to re-post that huge photo, but that is correct, didn't the Jack Russell terrier die last year? Too lazy to find it, but I'm most certain it's true. SC

Or Brian Cox and Courtney Cox. If Courtney married Brian, divorced and married Brandin Cooks, divorced and married Paul Cocks, then divorced and married John "Cocksy" Cocks... she would be Courtney Cox-Cox-Cooks-Cocks-Cocks.
