Blackwell was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2014. Over his two decades as a full-time musician, the Tulsa native drummed for such acts as Leon Russell, Joe Cocker (on "The Letter"), bluesman Taj Mahal, Little Richard and the Everly Brothers, among countless others, picking up three gold albums along the way. Gas Ronda, a star of the 1960s drag racing circuits in Southern California and a member of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame, died Wednesday in Palm Desert. He was 91. Ronda died in his Palm Desert home at 6:35 a.m., his wife Nina said. While he suffered two strokes in 2014, in the last year he had battled cancer that had spread through his body, she said. She added that she was happy his final days were spent at their home, something he strongly wanted. Headline: Out of Gas SC

Officials from the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium reported that Sam, a 44-year-old white rhinoceros was euthanized due to declining health. Sam was born at the San Diego Wild Animal Park and arrived in Toledo in 1988. The Association of Zoos & Aquariums says the average life expectancy is 33.9 years. I used to go to the Toledo Zoo often, it's a great zoo. Last time I was there had to be mid-1990s, when Sam was like 12. RIP Sam. SC

Friedman Paul Erhardt, aka 'Chef Tell', got things cooking this day 10 years ago (63).

Louise Beavers, another black actress from the same era as Hattie McDaniel, and who of course was cubby-holed into the roles of 'maid' 'slave' or 'servant', died this day as well 55 years ago (60). Interestingly, Beavers was one of three actresses (including Hattie McDaniel and Ethel Watters) to portray housekeeper Beulah on the Beulah television show. That show was the first television sitcom to star a black person. Pretty cool coincidence here in the Anniversary thread.

In a year to top all years of death, and with still about 15% of the year to go..... ... Sir Creep says 'None of the Above'. I think we're done. SC

And when they say Fats was 'surrounded by his friends and family', they mean it took ALL his friends and family to surround him. SC

Ironically you post that on a thread I predicted the man's death within 2 days. I had Diski on my lists....so not sure where that is coming from. I scored points all around. Two very odd remarks, imho. SC

Depressed people commit suicide, not egomaniacs. SMFH. I don't know how long it took you to type all that, I refuted it completely in 6 words. I guarantee I'm more depressed having opened this thread this morning than O'Reilly is. SC

Are you going to post Brett Favre as an actor cuz he was in Something About Mary? I mean, the first thing anyone thinks of when thinking of Guillaume is 'voice actor'. SC

Link? imdb has nothing updating. Not doubting, just looking for confirmation. Edit: well chasing down the Wiki citation, I see another band member mentions it on his FB page. I guess that's enough. Seeing as Fleck was a noted cinematographer, funny his passing goes with as much fanfare as mine will. SC

I'll drink to that.....as per medical advice.

This is my basis for calling it a big miss. Sorry I didn't attach originally, but I stated as much. I laid the groundwork and basis for his inclusion, and any misgivings I may be stating are overcome by my having included him in my own DP I run (which allowed me to take the lead from another pesky entry lol) prior to this Jan 2, 2017 post, so money was where my mouth was. It's a miss, the writing was on the wall, and here on DL. I'm aware the committee is inclined to include names that will drive traffic to the site rather than the 50 most likely to die, but Daisy Berkowitz falls into the exact mix they are looking for (fame, searchability, likelihood of death), and frankly, people interested in Daisy are FAR more likely to hang around here and build a user base (isn't that the website's goal?) than Fats fucking Domino fans. It's not just a big miss, it's one of the biggest as far as whoever runs this site should be concerned. SC

Well that's what I get for always working my way up from the bottom with active links when I sign on. But what dumbass would put Putesky in the hyper-generic 'Dead of 2017' thread instead of something more fitting? Oh that would be the king of dumbassedness, Roey Juss. Go figure. For fuxsake can you TRY to cubbyhole into a proper category next time? Weeeeee effort I know. Anyway, I'll give myself a 1-Clive rating for reposting SC
