#1 reason why some 'won't leave their homes' no matter how ugly an oncoming hurricane looks. Sad really.

Pope Boniface II, who was only Pope for 2 years, died this day in 532 A.D., or 1485 years ago (age unknown). The 'A.D.' is only because of him. During his brief Papacy, Boniface changed the numbering of the years in the Julian Calendar from Ab Urbe Condita (based on the founding of Rome) to Anno Domini (A.D.), based on the birth of Jesus.

Melissa Etheridge was arrested back in August for possession of a controlled substance after her tour bus was stopped by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in North Dakota on the way back into the U.S. A K-9 unit detected possible drugs, according to the site, and officers later found marijuana oil. Etheridge, who is a breast cancer survivor and who has said she uses the oil for symptoms of pain, pleaded not guilty to possession. SC [How's THAT for a quality thread reboot]

Christina Applegate, who had a double mastectomy 9 years ago following a breast cancer diagnosis, has now had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to help ward off the disease. Posting here cuz, like Angeliana, she tested positive for BRCA1 and went ahead chopping herself up as a preventative measure. So I'm lumping them together, no (well perhaps some) pun intended. SC

On this, the 100th anniversary of the death of Mata Hari, allow me to present the LAST PLACE song of Eurovision 1976, as performed by Anne Karine Strom of Norway, presently age 66, so a solid decade-plus away from ever being mentioned in this thread again. SC

The 38-year-old was in action for his side in the Indonesia Super League against Semen Padang when the incident happened during the first half. The Indoensian footballer was the captain of Persela and played nearly 500 games for the club. 0:15 Video in article, no biggie, but you get to hear what a leg cracking a skull sounds like. SC

Can see why they stopped. Shooting a sleeping man FOURTEEN times, well......that's a bit much.

Gen. Thaddeus Kosciuszko (Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kosciuszko) died this day 200 years ago (71). He was a Polish war hero and instrumental in the American Revolutionary efforts. For that reason he has a statue in my home town of Detroit, MI (pictured), and it's in a high traffic area so I've seen it 'more times than Carter has liver pills'. Of course Detroit--and more significantly the Polish enclave city within a city, Hamtramck,--had quite a notable Polish population. Hopefully no one is offended by his statue's presence and it doesn't get torn down (SMFH) for another 200 years. SC

A woman by the name of Kymberley Suchomel, 28, who attended the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, passed away Monday just days after she had survived the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history unscathed. Suchomel, who posted her eyewitness account of the Las Vegas massacre in astonishingly vivid detail to her Facebook page on Oct. 4, subsequently died in her home on Oct. 9 from what reports are claiming are ‘natural causes.’ Shockingly, just days before her death, Suchomel posted KEY DETAILS about the shooting to Facebook that contradicted the official narrative which claims that Stephen Paddock was the lone gunman. "Hef In Hell?" as a lead-in for his write-up seems kinda rude to me. It isn't like he was serving a life sentence or summat. OK, I've stated my piece. As you were. Just seems we can be 'slightly' more classy, Admins. SC
