American Football (And Other Yank 'sports')

Again we have exported an NFL game to the motherland, and this time it involves my beloved New Orleans Saints. I expect all y'all to be wearing gold and black today and waving a fleur de lis around whilst cheering on the Saints and ignoring the team named after a fish. SC (Note: an aside, my daughter at 5 years old saw an NFL scoreboard show I was watching and said she liked the names of teams with animals and decided the Dolphins were her favorite team. Splitter!) -
Seriously? You are affected personally by the death of Hugh Hefner? It impacts you to the core? Did you cry lots of tears? You're making a hell of a case for the person who waxed poetic about Chester Bennington. SC

Likewise, mate. That's why heretofore and forthwith it's against all acceptable morays to mention her in this group. SC

Wouldn't it be fun if in some strange ironic twist, Hef got interred next to Marilyn Manson instead of Monroe?

I take it we don't export our game shows real well. Hall (and the show) were pretty iconic. There is even a math problem or theory I guess named after him. Pretty interesting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem SC

I mean if he was in a coma or summat..... no reason for a thread cuz of an accident alone. His dad just kicked the bucket so there's that. Maybe make a Mariln Manson's Dad thread? SC

Welcome to the list of 'biggest misses' by the Committee. Wasn't Hall on the list before? Gotta know when to hold em, and when to fold em. SC

On this day in 1937 (80 years ago), two gold metal Olympians died: Ray Ewry (63) and Ernst Hoppenberg (59). One was a swimmer and one a triple jump specialist. Sadly, it was Hoppenberg who -- despite having a fantastic name for a triple jumper -- was the swimmer.

And only deleting the one post.....clearly a hack. Cuz if it was hacked no way someone would post more than one item. SC

I think you're thinking of something else, some other subsection of vets. I'm sure there are a handful of Pearl Harbor survivors left, in fact there was another the next day I didn't post (or did I?).

and/or technically a publisher/editor. Technically Class of 1926. blah blah. [Dare I suggest technically a pedophile?]. Did he ever technically act (i.e. appear as himself)?

One person was killed and another person injured after a massive chunk of stone broke off the face of Yosemite’s El Capitan on Wednesday, park officials and a climber who witnessed the rockfall said. The rockfall on the more than 3,000-foot-tall granite monolith occurred at around 1:55 p.m. local time near the Waterfall Route, a popular climbing trail. Peter Zabrok, 58, a climber making his 58th El Capitan climb on Wednesday, said a huge chunk of rock toppled from about 2,000 feet up and fell about 1,000 feet. It appeared two or three people were hiking at the base at the time. Just me or does the witness sound a little fishy. Just happened to 'see' it, had nothing to DO with it of course. SC

A woman with Tennessee ties is now behind bars in connection to a 27-year-old Palm Beach killer clown case that left her lover’s wife dead. Sheila Keen Warren was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in Virginia this week. On May 26, 1990, witnesses said the victim, Marlene Warren, her 22-year-old son and several of his friends were finishing breakfast when a white Chrysler Le Baron pulled into the driveway. A clown exited the vehicle carrying flowers and two balloons. It knocked on the door, shot Marlene Warren in the face and then calmly walked away, police said. The victim died two days later. SC

Sounds like someone could have used a Magic Man. Carol Peters, Heart's longtime manager, died from cancer Sept. 18. She was 72. SC

Let these be his parting words: "My sites were picked up by Trump supporters all the time," Horner told The Washington Post in 2016. "I think Trump is in the White House because of me. His followers don't fact-check anything -- they'll post everything, believe anything."

I'm always wrong. I hate this game. Akihito. For the record now that I'm off Carrington, he's sure to drop. SC

Technically he was a lot of things, doesn't mean we post them in every possible thread. Technically he's part of the Dead of 2017, a CEO, etc. SC
