Should run that by the Committee.

You draw up a list of people 100 years of age or older, it's bound to happen. Edit: 221 names? The boundaries of 'celebrity' must have been stretched to the limit to pound out so many living 'celebrity centenarians'. I'll applaud the effort nonetheless. SC

James Joseph Dresnok was a 21-year-old US soldier posted to the demilitarised zone in South Korea, after signing up to the army aged 17. He fled his base and made the perilous crossing into North Korea during the summer of 1962. Some 55 years later, the man the North Koreans referred to as ‘Comrade joe’ passed away, his sons confirmed. Good riddance you POS. SC

A mother who had just given birth to her third daughter was reportedly cut in half at a Spanish hospital Sunday when her stretcher became stuck between floors inside an elevator. Rocio Cortes Nunez, 26, was being transported between the second and third floors of Our Lady of Valme Hospital in Seville when the incident occurred. SC -
Swedish journalist Kim Wall, missing since August 11 after boarding a privately built submarine, died in an accident and was buried at sea, the vessel's owner Peter Madsen told a court hearing in Denmark. Madsen, who has been charged with manslaughter, told a closed-door court hearing that he buried Wall at sea in an "unspecified place" in Køge Bay, according to a statement published by Copenhagen City Council on Monday. Wall, 30, was on the Nautilus for a story she was writing on Madsen and the 17-meter submarine. SC

Usain Bolt is opening a restaurant chain and plans on 15 locations by 2022. I'm guessing it's fast food. SC

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

Is this Napolean complex or simple butthurt? I mean for Christ sake.... an obtuse and bitter response to an otherwise innocent observation. SC -

Anyone in America in the area of the eclipse today? Sadly I'm not this time around. Just wondered if anyone taking advantage of this glorious opportunity. SC -
Given the thread we are posting in.....I mean how many 20-year old males are Olympians to begin with....and have been diagnosed with something secondly? I'm sorry, I haven't looked but this doesn't sound the proverbial needle in the haystack. But again, I admit having not taken the time (and for now won't) to discover this incredible find who is certain to die in the next 60 days. SC

Not these days.

Oh well, my Life of Brian theme team wasn't turned in this year.

DDP pick? You Gotz to be kidding

That's a rather personal question...

Jason Corsaro, sound engineer and mixer extraordinaire, and one of those guys in the background you never heard of until now, dies from cancer age 58. His accomplishments, an incredible discography that included engineering and/or mixing for all-time greats including Madonna, The Power Station, Duran Duran, The Rolling Stones, The Cars, Paul Simon, Chic, Soundgarden, Bill Laswell, and countless others. Didn't know him but he's certainly a giant in the industry, and for those desperate to find 'dying in threes' for today, you can probably include him with Dick Gregory and Jerry Lewis for your triad. SC

Said Lewis, "I've done just about everything a person can do on this earth. All that is left is to see a solar eclipse. I can't wait!"
-
He should feel lucky frankly, but for deadpooling I am certain 60% (ok, 80%) of us would have gone to our own graves having never heard of him. At least he was appreciated, even if it be for his demise. RIP Sir Colin. SC

Great Balls of Fire!

Meh, doubt the serious contenders chose him DDP. His is a name the last-minute-throw-a-list-together teams include. No offense. Okay enough about DDP. Jerry Lewis was a good man and invented the damned telethon AFAIK. Top drawer comic.... he and his talent will be missed. RIP SC

Bishop Desmond Tutu: 'Continent Mourns: Regrets it wasn't fucking Robert Mugabe.'

Just stupid imho. Not sure if punk-ass is holding me responsible for scouring the entire site before coming back here to make a learned post. But given reaction to his post, maybe there are a plethora of morons around here (I know I know.... rhetorical). So I apologize for MY stupidity in opening this link first, not seeing an obit link, and commenting on that fact; THEN going elsewhere and seeing the obit posted. Oh woe is me and my newbie actions. That was the 'hope against hope' part

And how about a hit for Sir Colin Meads to boot. Here we come! SC

Which of these religious heavyweights will go first?
Sir Creep replied to RobertMugabe's topic in Dead Pools
Clearly the nod goes to Graham at this point. SC -
The Queen of Mean, Leona Helmsley, thought that her dying this day 10 years ago (age 87) would make people stop thinking she was a cunt. She was wrong.
