You people and your 'cancer' nonsense. What a pile of horseshit. 'But look at the photos Sir Creep'. Fahk off. Wrap your tin-foil head's around this: The 75-year-old soul icon - who recently announced she will be retiring this year - is planning to open a Detroit nightspot and occasionally perform at the venue. Aretha has already come up with a name for the club and is planning to invite other artists to perform when she is not taking to the stage. Speaking to USA Today, she added: "It would be Aretha's! (SMFH) "From time to time I would sing, and of course, I would have special artists come in to perform for the city that people in Detroit like - Detroit favorites." Aretha will retire when her final album, a collaboration with Stevie Wonder, is released this September following a 57-year career. She previously said: "I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert. This is it." Yup, sounds like someone knowingly with cancer about to leave this mortal coil. SMFH. SC

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Get some things done around the house with your nail gun. -
Just found out, through my sister, that one of my mother's dearest and closest friends died 2 days ago (age 89). She was originally from Canada but ended up in the Detroit area. She still lived in the old neighbourhood. I was friends with her kids but they were both quite aloof and no contact was maintained over the years. In any case, a very charming, outgoing, and funny woman, like my mother, and no doubt why the two of them got along so well. They would nip the sarsaparilla once in a while and were funnier still. She was also the first Avon lady I ever heard of, had she played her cards more aggressively she'd have had one hell of a downline. Anyway, just passing it on. No condolences necessary, as it isn't family per se, though I am quite saddened to hear the news. Sir C

Don't ruin my mojo. And I can't even speak to the manner of person who challenges the veracity of the Suffolk Gazette!

John II Megas Komnenos (John II of Trebizond) died 720 years ago, age (approx) 35. I was intrigued by the 'of Trebizond', having never heard of Trebizond, and now I learned me sumptin. It's in the region of modern day Turkey. SC

Good info. Yes, it's not the weight so much as the g's are packed into the same area, so it must be more dense, a big bang theory :-) Like I said I worked with a guy who played lacrosse and I gained a total new respect for those who play it. I'm serious, that damn thing will break bones if it hit your chest etc. But you never seem to read about it. Not enough pads for me to play goalie I can tell you that. SC -

Pakistan cricketer Zubair Ahmed was struck on the head with what proved to be a fatal blow during a game in Mardan on August 14. Ahmed has played four matches for the ListA and T20 team Quetta Bears. Query: How hard/dense is a cricket ball....they've played baseball for 120 years with only a couple casualties, and pitchers bean batters in the noggin many times a season. Must be like a friggin billiard ball! That said, I recall once picking up a lacrosse stick and ball and thinking my GOD if that ball hit you in the head, you'll be dead instantly (see billiard ball reference) SC -
Without opening the link, I've ruled out brain surgery.

With Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher 24 hours apart, it's a damned good start. (EDit.....yeah, Carrie probably had no DDP unless a Star Wars theme team) SC -
#46: While a man dozed on his patio in his detached home near Ipswich, the seagull swooped from the sky, and with one bite of its beak ripped away the right testicle. He woke screaming in agony, and saw the bird flying away with one of his ‘crown jewels’ wedged in its yellow beak. A spokesman for research group Seagull Watch International confirmed that seagulls often feed on the eggs of small birds. SC

He's not famous enough for his own thread, so I'm going to lead by example. Problem is he isn't particularly a 'cleric' but we gotta put Nabeel Qureshi information some goddamn place. As I posted elsewhere, he has been in hospital for 3 weeks, and now has had his entire stomach removed due to constant bleeding issues. Says he's 'recovering well'. Let's see how his advanced stomach cancer fights back after having it's happy place taken away. SC

A tree crashed down on a popular religious festival on the Portuguese island of Madeira on Tuesday, killing 12 people and injuring 52 others, officials said. The tree fell while a large crowd was gathered near the island's capital of Funchal as part of the Nossa Senhora do Monte festival. It's Madeira's biggest annual festivity and was being held on Monday and Tuesday, drawing large crowds to a church on Funchal's outskirts. Local media reports said the tree was an oak that was more than 200 years old. SC

Must be something going on in the Tejano world. 57-year old Tejano music legend Ram Herrera made his first public appearance over the weekend since being hospitalized on July 7. Herrera seems to have recovered well, since being admitted to the hospital on July 7, for pneumonia and a collapsed lung. He later received surgery for a knee infection and care to repair damage to his heart. The crooner is already scheduled to perform on August 18 in Grand Prairie, Texas and in Houston on August 26. I see this ending live on stage, we've had a few this year. SC
