    American Football Players

Frank Kush, the fearsome coach who transformed Arizona State from a backwater football program into a powerhouse, died Thursday. He was 88. Kush was 176-54-1 with the Sun Devils from 1958 to 1979. His teams won two Border Conference and seven Western Athletic Conference titles. Arizona State won the Peach Bowl in 1970 and the first three Fiesta Bowls. His 1970 team was 11-0, and the 1975 squad went 12-0, capped by a 17-14 Fiesta Bowl victory over Nebraska, and finished a program-best No. 2 in the country. SC

He was 93 and lived in Manhattan. SC

Who's Going To Be Around For A While?

At 95 you don't get Alzheimer's. You get Exactlytherightstateofmentaldeteriorationheimer's. I can see why they just say Alzheimer's now. That shit don't fit on the hospital forms or death certificates. SC

    Death By Jazz

Grammy winning Portland jazz musician and instructor Thara Memory has died at 68. Memory suffered from diabetes (wouldn't it have been rich if it was Alzheimer's?) and had been in poor health in recent years. Memory left behind an impressive legacy of music ---- but more recently had been indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury on eight counts of third-degree sex abuse, two of attempted sexual abuse, and for harassment. Police said last February that there may be other victims. The status of the case Monday was not immediately available. Memory won a Grammy with his former student Esperanza Spalding in 2013 for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for the song "City of Roses" from her album "Radio Music Society." I think the status of the case is well known now. SC

Who's Going To Be Around For A While?

Alzheimer's? I am not speaking medically, but rather common-sensically. The ALZ in Alzheimer's means old. It's a regressive DISEASE that afflicts someone who isn't terribly elderly, but who's mind goes. To me, that is Alzheimer's. Betty White is in her 90s. It is absurd to pin a regressive DISEASE to the mind of a 95-year old who starts having NATURAL brain regression....of say....oh I don't know....a FUCKING NINETY FIVE YEAR OLD. It's not unexpected, in fact NOT having some memory loss would be unexpected. I guess the bottom line is that Sir Creep is saying it's impossible for someone 95 years old to suffer from Alzheimer's. Rather, they suffer from being 95. I welcome all other opinions. Basically so I can get a good chuckle. SC

    World War II Veterans

Marine Corps Capt. Arthur J. Jackson, who received the Medal of Honor for killing 50 Japanese soldiers and silencing a dozen enemy pillboxes during the World War II battle of Peleliu, and almost two decades later was forced out of the service after covering up his slaying of an alleged Cuban spy, died June 14 in Boise, Idaho. He was 92. The Congressional Medal of Honor Society announced the death but did not provide a cause. RIP, and thank you for your service (I know that irks a couple of you SMFH). SC
