http://www.clickondetroit.com/features/70-years-ago-while-rouge-river-floods-dearborn-estate-henry-ford-dies-at-83 Here's a whole story about that day in Dearborn, MI. BTW I attended an elementary school with an attached kindergarten that was an original 1-room schoolhouse built by Henry Ford for the workers/families of the small machine shops that were popping up 25 miles west of Detroit. The school was demolished a few years ago, leaving the old schoolhouse as a reminder. Just a few months ago they moved the schoolhouse to an historical site for preservation....a little bittersweet from where I'm sitting but I'm glad it survived. SC

Nope...it just told me that my user name isn't one that is recognized by DL website, so I had to go ask for new pw for second time in 5 hours. Worse, I no sooner created the new pw than I signed onto DL on my iPhone and typed in the username pw and it said it wasn't recognized. Looks like my hiatus may continue. I ain't got time for dat! Is an Admin around who could discuss this matter off-page? SC

ever since the site overhaul, it refuses to remember my login info and it wears me out creating new (i.e. the same) pw everytime I want to enter something. Easier just to spend my efforts elsewhere. Hopefully it is fixed or if it was a problem exclusive to my account then I have resolved it. I have my doubts. I do miss all your posts and personalities....even the angry people lol. SC

Death; period. Amy Bleuel, 31, from Wisconsin, founded Project Semicolon in 2013 with one goal in mind – to help people struggling with mental illness, suicide and addiction. She encouraged people to draw or tattoo semicolons on themselves as a message of hope – a sign that their story isn’t finished – and to fight the stigma of mental health. And now; dead. SC

First and likely last time I will have ever heard of Ripon College (founded 1851). It'll certainly be the last time for this man. Dr. Bernard Schroder Adams, 88, the ninth president of Ripon College from 1966-85, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017. So they only had 8 Presidents from 1851-1966??? Hell, HE lasted 19 years on the job. Interesting. SC

#12: Several of The Bahamas' famous swimming pigs have died after the animals were reportedly fed by tourists. The pigs are an international sensation on the shores of the Exuma Cays. The Bahamian government has prohibited the feeding of the pigs after seven of them were found dead. About 15 of the pigs are still alive. The pigs have been on the beach for almost 30 years and nothing like this had ever happened before. The pigs were reportedly given beer and rum by tourists. Bahamian government officials have not confirmed the cause of death. Sir Creep hopes that is how he dies. SC

Not sure where the hell to post this one. I guess this will work, but feel free to advise and admonish. A teen from Singapore died on Friday while trying to perform a risky stunt for a Snapchat video. Johnathan Chow, 17, jumped over the railing at a Singapore mall, hoping to land safely on a ledge just beneath him. But the ledge couldn’t support Chow’s weight and he fell through the plasterboard to his death four floors below. There's a video if you're so inclined (it really doesn't show anything) SC

Bernie Custis, pro football’s first black quarterback who blazed the trail for future stars like Warren Moon, Chuck Ealey and Damon Allen, has died. He was 88. Custis made pro football history Aug. 29, 1951, when he became a starter with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He starred at quarterback with Syracuse University and was selected sixth overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 1951 NFL draft. But the former college roommate of Al Davis — the late Oakland Raiders coach and owner — was told he’d play safety with the club, a move he resisted. SC -

Music industry veteran Ilene Berns died Monday (Feb. 20) in Florida. She was 73. Berns will be remembered as one of the leading female independent label chiefs of her time. At just 24, she took the reins of Bang Records and its Web IV Music publishing when her husband, the executive, songwriter and producer Bert Berns, died of a heart attack in 1968. Under her direction, Bangs administered the rich Bang and Shout catalogs with recordings by Van Morrison, Neil Diamond, The McCoys, Strangeloves, Freddie Scott and Erma Franklin and enjoyed a string of hits from the likes of Derek (“Cinnamon”), Paul Davis (“I Go Crazy”), Brick (“Dazz”) and Peabo Bryson (“Underground Music”).
