I enjoyed RadGuy's self analysis, so here goes: Sir Creep - Cancel My Appointments Patrick Bowlen - late stage Alzheimer's etc, 79 I think, couldn't be in attendance when his Denver Broncos won the Suoer Bowl last year, his wife referred to him in the past tense when accepting the trophy. Alzheimer's are always a tough call but his wife knows: 60% Colin Butts - obit risky, death not so much. 80% Rico Constantino - maybe I shoulda went with Rico as my joker -- is he the dirty little secret I had hoped Rayya would be? I've read nothing about him elsewhere. His social media suggests he's in a lot of trouble. 80% Errol Christie - ive been riding another young black man's ass (that didn't come out right) with Stage 4 lung cancer in Wesley Pipes, who seems to have overcome. I've never seen Pipes and Christie at the same place at the same time, just sayin. Hmmm. 95% Rayya Elias (Joker) - A fellow Detroiter! Dyke fringe of the famous (yeah I said it) oddly a guaranteed obit. But will she die? 89% Scott Hamilton - My ex wife's grandmother is the only person I've heard of that fought off cancer three times, but she was in her 70s/80s, not her 50's! Can an ex athlete fend off C3 for 400 days? I'm guessing no. 90% Mo Haque - don't know anything about him other than crowdfunding cancer treatment. Sounds experimental but we shall see. I figured very few would have Mo so I might cash in Mo Money. Obit a lock. 50% Sasha Lokovic - 100% and will be leaving a fair number of folks pleading for an obit I doubt will come. Then again Andrew Smith got an easy obit and not sure how a college basketball player is obit worthy to UK publications and an NHLer wouldn't be. Tracy McGiffin - 100/100% easy points you should be embarrassed if she's not on your team. This was my secret Joker until Joey-come-blow-your-horn-Russ became the town cryer. Sir Colin Meads - I only know what y'all have posted. Seems a sure death. 85% Vincent Mullins - I've been told he is dead so my sub PM Patrick John steps in and he's been hospitalized for heart conditions and diabetes, amputating a leg last year. But he may skate through. 35% Richard Overton - fucker lived last year. Now at 110 his points are useless but I chose him out of spite and to teach him a lesson. No crime in a couple low hanging fruit. 97% Nabeel Qureshi - ahh what the hell. Let's see how better he gets. Figured people would pass on him and he's a young'in. Worth a punt. Simon Ricketts - Give me my points please. Peter Skellern - Give me my points please Mario Soares - Give me my points please Valeri Spiridinov - everyone makes it sound like if he doesn't chop his head off he's good to go. He's chopping his head off cuz his body is useless. He could die from natural causes before the surgery. That said I don't think any of it will happen but he's like 30 so you have to cross your fingers. 25% risk 1000% reward John Wetton - unlike everyone else I'm not so sure he's a 2017 casualty. 65% Mike IX Williams - another guy I shoulda made my Joker. He may meet his gofundme goal for treatment of cancer etc. And he's young. I had to take a chance. Paul Van Zandvliet - 90% Sub: PM Patrick John -'see above SirC

Y'all keep alluding to each other's picks, in particular Spade's. Where the hell are they posted? Spade never posted his so you must be clairvoyant. SC

DiMasi at 90% !!???!??? Forget the questionable obit--I'll bet you a one year total DL banishment (and throw in a can of coffee) that he's alive for New Years 2019. He has less than a zero percent chance of dying. Well ok 1%. SC

I really can't say that I would be upset to see him cash out- it's been a long time coming He just got married a year ago.

That's a very interesting stat. I'm very proud of us now!

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

I've been told Mullins died a couple months ago. I haven't confirmed but I'll presume it's true. Out with Mullins IN with Kevin Carey. SC

I'm forced to accept 32nd place having done the most with the least (8 hits and 1 Lost). The next closest team with only 8 hits was in 41st place. Incredibly I never had a hit after August or so. Thus despite being 2nd place first week of March, I casually slid and slid down the charts lol, dropping outta the top 10 around September, and top 20 a month later. All in all a good rookie effort and learning experience. Spade and I shared ONE thing on common: Hassan Asif as Joker; that's where our similarities began and ended. Haha. Probably didn't even win Rookie of the Year :-( Hoping for top 20 in 2017. Keeping my expectations real. SirC

I saw an article from a couple months ago aboht Qureshi apparently being miraculously cured.I dunno much bout the prognosis of stage 4 colon cancer, but Berkowitz might have been cured with it going unreported. Just the opposite. Last Fall they organized a benefit concert for him and he couldn't attend whereas In the Spring he was actually performing etc. So I put 2+2 together and I think this is the year for Daisy. Maybe I read too much into his absence.SC

75 is elderlyYou're elderly. I"m middle-aged This is Sir Creep giving a pile of fucks about the OED definition of middle-aged. Prolly says 'pert near elderly'.
-
75 is elderly You're elderly.
-
My mother wasn't fucking "elderly" at 75 when she still owned a house and mowed the yard. She was elderly at 84 when I walked in to visit her at the old folks home and she was asleep in a wheelchair the whole time. This isn't even debatable. SC
-
You've got it the wrong way round. OED definition of elderly: 1. Somewhat old, verging towards old age 2. Of or pertaining to one in later life. Sir Creep's definition:Elderly (adj): aged with the additional trait of feebleness in mind, body, or both. This is a discussion you won't win. Come correct next time and not with ill-gotten mumbo jumbo barely worthy of lining a birdcage with. OED incorrectly suggests elderly is somewhat old when in fact it means terribly old. SC

Are you people going to do this for every year?
-
Interesting. I can't say I'm on board with the analogy. Crowe and Feek were guaranteed to die. I don't think Downie or Bracknell are going anywhere this year. I'm sure I'm in a minority. SC
-
I don't equate old with elderly but maybe I'm flogging a dead horse with scemantics. Elderly implies old folks home and gumming jell-o for dinner and being reminded to bathe. Just being 90 years old doesn't mean 'elderly' to me but hey. I get it. SC

I wouldn't mind having a unique with Pat Bowlen but I gotta believe in 600 teams someone has him. When his wife accepted the Super Bowl trophy last year she spoke about her husband in the PAST TENSE! I couldn't believe it. Figured he can't hang on forever but late stage Alzheimer's is tricky. I blew it forgetting Campbell but filled my Alzheimer's quota. Maybe it's better I didn't have too many of them after all. My only chance is that the majority of mine die and grab an unexpected birthday bonus or summat. I don't have uniqueness as a quality I dare say. I do feel strongly they'll drop dead though. Gotta start somewhere lol. SC

These three I agree with for 2018 long list. The others I either don't see as having much potential yet or admittedly don't know enough about and need to study. (Edit: BAH strike Wilson's name)SC

New Here And Just Saying Hello

Updated for you. Must be a software thing. I cant put a space between your names. Hyphen or underscore doesn't seem to work either.Wouldn't it be funny if you were that excruciatingly vile woman who 'writes' for the Daily Fucking Mail! You read the Daily Mail??????????????????/ I read all the papers. Viz is my favourite. Oh Lardy if you're trying to post sweet nothings to me, it's working. SC -
Lakovic has a huge obit problem (and I have him), but you know who has a bigger obit problem? The living. A guy at his age guaranteed to die is not one to eschew due to an improbable obit IMHO. Maybe the sob story him leaving a young kid behind will push him over the obit hurdle, I give it 20%. SirC

I don't agree with just listing the oldest people you can think of but that's the committee's MO and Renee Simonot at 105 was the pick. Missed opportunity here.

Former Olympic downhill skiing champion Jean Vuarnet has died aged 83, French local newspaper Le Dauphine Libere reported on Monday. Vuarnet, who won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics, died of a stroke in Sallanches in the French Alps, the newspaper said. SC http://wkzo.com/news/articles/2017/jan/02/alpine-skiing-former-olympic-champion-vuarnet-dies-report/ First legit death 2017 -- I plant my flag in victory. This year's been all downhill for Vuarnet. Shit I didn't see John Berger's obit. He's the winner :-(

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players
Sir Creep replied to Death Watch Beatle's topic in DeathList Forum
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski will undergo back surgery Friday, the school announced Monday. Krzyzewski is expected to coach Wednesday against Georgia Tech and then step away for the surgery to remove a fragment of a herniated disk in his lower back. The procedure has an anticipated recovery time of four weeks. In and of itself sounds like nothing but he has had a pile of minor sugeries and hospital stays the past couple years. The link speaks to that fact. SC http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18394507/mike-krzyzewski-duke-blue-devils-coach-planning-leave-absence-due-back-issues -
Are you seriously claiming Facebook Live is the same as an actual live television show? Do you see a 'claim' young Sir Phantom? Seemed like a reasonable place to post it. Anyway I know you'll get treatment for your OCD, maybe 2017 is the year. SC
