China Machado, the Shanghai-born supermodel who broke barriers in the fashion industry, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at a hospital in Brookhaven, New York, according to multiple news sources. She was 87. Machado – her nickname, China, was pronounced CHEE-na – was the first nonwhite person to appear on the cover of a major U.S. fashion magazine. She broke that barrier in the February 1959 issue of Harper's Bazaar. SC http://www.legacy.com/news/celebrity-deaths/notable-deaths/article/china-machado-1928-2016

Oh that's right. Forgot that one, but she wasn't hardly a band member but it's all good. The fact they were same day was interesting to say the least. SC

Not really he he. He popped up on the BBC's Review Obituaries Part 2, and I went "Hang on....nobody mentioned him on the forums.." So wait... I know as a fact earlier this year or late last year someone (lead singer I think) from Edison Lighthouse died, so are you saying two members of that band died inside of a year?SC Not unique this year. Two-third of ELP died this year. Also two members of Jefferson Airplane died.Kantner and who?

Realized that Dean Martin and Billy Martin both died on Christmas. Mark Martin shaking his jingle bells off every Yule, my guess. SC

The Deathlist Christmas Special!

A Happy Christmas / Merry Christmas unto all of you at DL. Sir Creep -
I'll assume you are younger and haven't begun to lose friends or relatives to heart disease etc. Let me assure you if it took 15 minutes just to get a heartbeat she's no longer the same person. To be fair you may be perfectly correct that she can slog through 2017, but 2020 is out of the question. Hedge your bets any way you like. SC

In a twist I'm posting a hetero- here. Unless she had a beard. Susan Wolfe-Devol, the first woman to become a Lutheran pastor in Orange County and a hard-driving advocate for LGBT inclusion and social justice in the church and its ministry, has died at the age of 61. Wolfe-Devol died Dec. 16 in Ventura after a brief illness, her HUSBAND said. SC http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-susan-wolfe-devol-20161222-story.html

Edit: shouldn't punk rock have its own goddamn thread? Metal does, prog does, blues and jazz and opera and gospel do. Punk isn't pop music. I shoulda started one just now.

Swindle Part 5: Let em think your dead. A very prominent San Diego DJ I know well from his old Detroit punk days is posting RIP to Bill Price -- producer in part of Never Mind the Bollocks -- so I have 99% faith in its veracity but damned if Google is pulling anything up on it presently. If true, RIP SCreep

Somewhat questionable obit and perhaps some post-whoring. I accept that. Pianist Betty Loo Taylor (87) widely recognized by local musicians as Hawaiis First Lady of Jazz died early today at Palolo Chinese Home, her husband confirmed. Ken Taylor said his wife had been fighting pneumonia after suffering a stroke about six months ago. She was found unresponsive by nurses during a routine check around 1 a.m. today. People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
Sir Creep replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
OK I thought the purpose of this thread was for posting names of those Wiki has showing as dead when there is either little or no supporting evidence and/or the person is actually alive. That's definitely how it started out. SC -
A federal smokejumper deployed to Alabama to help battle last month's wildfires throughout the southern region has died following a fall on Birmingham's Southside. Ray Fernandez Rubio, 52, was a longtime smokejumper with the Deschutes National Forest in Oregon and one of many sent to help battle the drought-fueled blazes. He was injured Nov. 22 when he was walking back to his hotel from a restaurant in the Five Points South area. Authorities said he fell over a concrete railing into a parking garage that was one story below ground level.
