Brooks Thompson, who served as a player and assistant at Oklahoma State before a 10-year career as head coach of UTSA, died on Thursday. He was 45. Thompson was diagnosed with double organ failure in April and had been hospitalized for much of the past two months. Last week he was rushed back to hospital where he died of sepsis. The 65-year-old was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005 and successfully underwent treatment but during a check-up in November 2012 it was discovered that the cancer had returned when an MRI scan revealed a tumour at the base of his spine. She was one of first reporters on the scene in San Francisco's Marina District, not knowing she was one of those who had lost her home. She died today after a 16-year battle with cancer. Former Minnesota Timberwolves center Sean Rooks has died at the age of 46. Rooks, who played two seasons for the Timberwolves from 1994-96, collapsed suddenly and died in a Philadelphia restaurant on Tuesday. In addition to the Wolves, Rooks also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Hornets and Orlando Magic in a 12 year career.
