Jane Little, who spent her 71-year career with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, died on Sunday at 87 at an Atlanta hospital after collapsing onstage during a performance by the orchestra. The concert was a Broadway tribute, and, as if the Fates had arranged it thus, Ms. Little collapsed while playing Theres No Business Like Show Business. Sumner Redstone has removed Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman and Viacom board member George Abrams from the seven-person trust that will determine the fate of both Viacom and CBS in the event of his incapacitation or death. Redstone, who turns 93 next week, had the power to remove certain members of the trust, including Dauman. The move gives his daughter, Shari Redstone, who is also on the trust and vice chair of CBS and Viacom, a victory and more certain control to determine the fate of her father's $40 billion media empire. Isn't there an odd sports thread somewhere? Former GAA President Joe McDonagh has died, the Galway man passed away yesterday aged 63. Mr McDonagh was president of the Association between 1997 and 2000 and won an All-Ireland Hurling Championship with Galway in 1980. Mr McDonagh's death comes less than two weeks since the passing of his predecessor Jack Boothman on 10 May, who served as president of the Association from 1994 to 1997. I love coincidental deaths. No. He isn't worthy of a thread, else list a separate thread for every semi famous knob that is 95/96. What....the American Sitcom thread won't do? Who's the fuckstick that will start a Jerry Maren thread when the Munchkin thread 'just won't do'?

He HAS a thread, it's called Political Frailty. Every ho-hum person doesn't deserve a thread. You've done well gcreptile. That said, at least Hestert is ill and dying inside of two years....so somewhat thread worthy. Unlike Bono who maybe had to take aspirin for a headache once or summat. SC

I'm beginning to find the term 'Internet celebrity' an oxy moron given what is posted. Celebrity to who? 14 year olds? So these people are the Hanna Montana's/Hansons of the internet? Or is their celebrity self proclaimed? Hate sounding like an old crumudgeon...but I'm fully prepared to counter any argument as to what 'Internet celebrity' means. TotalBiscuit? Based on what, number of followers? I don't have (refuse to have) a Twitter account so I don't follow fuck. Celebrity based on Twitter is too niche for me. I don't acknowledge it. As my old civics teacher said, "an expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less", and to me if your internet presence and celebrity is to an extreme niche of the slice of the world's humanity pie, you've become less and less significant. You an expert on pottery, great; an expert on Chinese potter, ok; an expert on green Chinese pottery, who gives a fuck except the handful of people interested. And a handful of people doesn't define celebrity. Sexy Pancake? Anyone heard of this person (or TotalBiscuit for that matter)? ANYONE? Sexy Pancake tapes his penis -- what niche of humanity is tuning in to see or chat with or read tweets from a person who does this? The same who adore green Chinese pottery. And THAT, my friends, isn't celebrity by any stretch of the imagination. SirCreep

The lone surviving Canadian hostage in the southern Philippines has appeared in a new video, announcing that his captors will decapitate him and a Norwegian man next month if they do not receive $16 million in ransom first. Unsure of her popularity outside the States but this death brings to mind a name that my DP has seen mentioned a couple times: Dr Ruth Westheimer. She's like 89 or so. Maybe year or two before putting her on the radar but one never knows; she's a name to look out for. SC
