Beginning in the late 1940s, Martin and Elliot Gantmacher popularized the button-down shirt as a de rigueur garment for Ivy League and Madison Avenue men. They were so taken with their success, in fact, that not long after their company was rebranded Gant in 1949, the brothers adopted the label as their surname. Elliot Gant, the last of the founders, died on March 12 in Boston. He was 89. SC

Former Imperial Sugar CEO John Sheptor died earlier this month in California of natural causes. He was 57. Sheptor was president and CEO at Imperial on Feb. 8, 2008, when the company’s Port Wentworth processing plant got all blowed up, causing 15 employees to die from unnatural causes, unlike Sheptor. SC

A woman I worked with her parents died within minutes of each other. Both on their respective deathbeds the mum kept asking if the dad was dead yet. When her family finally said yes he was gone she died. She apparently said that she was going to outlive the rotten cheating bastard. Mission accomplished Mrs C. I don't exactly see where threads were 'merged' and prefer that RadGuy's idea for a separate thread had taken hold. Alas..... Randy Kitson passed away March 4. Daughter Rose Collins says it may have been a stroke that caused his sudden death, but doctors aren't certain. "We are not even sure what happened, because all of the heart scans looked good." Just hours after his passing, the health of Randy's wife of nearly 13 years, Judith Kitson, became Collins' priority. On Sunday, just 44 hours after her husband Randy's death, Judith passed away. Judith was fighting cancer in her bones and lungs. Her diagnosis was almost one year ago. Collins says in recent weeks her mother's health was strong and stable. SC

Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf left for Dubai early Friday morning, hours after the interior ministry issued a notification to remove his name from the exit control list (ECL). Before leaving, Musharraf told a DawnNews correspondent, "I am a commando and I love my homeland. I will come back in a few weeks or months." The former president, vowing to face all pending cases against him, said he was keeping himself abreast with developments in the country and will actively take part in politics after his return. Musharraf said he was going abroad to seek "medical treatment of a decade-old illness which has now developed several complications." On Thursday, Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan announced at a press conference that the government had decided to allow Musharraf to travel abroad for treatment after the Supreme Court lifted a ban on Musharraf's foreign travel a day ago. Three days, three U.S. state representatives. Grigsby, Berger, and now Abernathy III. Former Georgia state Sen. Ralph David Abernathy III died Thursday morning after a battle with liver cancer. He represented portions of the city of Atlanta in the state House of Representatives from 1987-to-1991 and in the state Senate from 1992-to-1999. Abernathy was indicted on 35 charges, including making false statements, violation of oath of office, theft by taking, forgery and witness tampering. He was ultimately convicted on 18 felony counts in December 1999. In 2002, Abernathy was arrested on parole violations and charged with theft by deception after fellow inmates said he promised to secure early releases for them in exchange for money. Abernathy was 57 years old. SC

Hassan Aboud, a feared Islamic State commander and double amputee who led the jihadist group’s rank and file in a string of prominent battles in Syria, died Wednesday from wounds received in a battle near Aleppo roughly two weeks ago, a former aide and one of Mr. Aboud’s townspeople said. SC -
*rolls tumbleweed across the forum* I was going to say, after reading the obit, he sounds like nobody. I know it's a slow obit day (two days really) what with the Reaper enjoying some corned beef & cabbage, but I'm agreeing with the tumbleweed sentiment. It'll pickup tomorrow, I promise. Fringes of Fame maybe, being Questlove's dad? While we are on the topic of The Roots -- my daughter LOVED Yo Gabba Gabba, and The Roots were on one of the shows playing a song (circa 2010). They had a token white dude who played bass. Now (circa 2015) they're big-time they boot che' whitey from the band? Cuz he sure as shit ain't with them any more. Hey -- just putting it out there. lol SC

A construction worker on his second day on the job died after falling from the 53rd floor of the Wilshire Grand Center tower and landing on a passing car in downtown L.A. early Thursday afternoon. His body landed on a car that was traveling on Wilshire Boulevard. The female driver of the white hatchback was being evaluated at the scene by LAFD personnel, and it was unknown whether she was injured. The worker's body had landed on the back end of the car. [and the best line....] A Los Angeles Times staff photographer was on assignment on the building’s 71st floor when he heard a loud thump and saw the man's body below. "It sounded like a bag of cement fell off the edge of the building," photographer Mel Melcon said. So now we have an idea what that sounds like. I already had an idea what it looks like. SC

For 15 months now I've stared at the title to this thread, and the bells never went off. And then... I can't tell you what an eye-opening enlightenment just happened last night, as I realised (sic) you spell hospitalized (sic) with a fucking S, like you're goddamn Portuguese or summat. Ah my lovable wacky Brits. My research just took on a new light! How many names have I missed. NO MORE! SC

Heart attack while on tour. Same way Davy Jones and Gene Pitney died. I worked with an unassuming guy (in a library if any indication) who I only discovered about 9 years later (around 2003 maybe) was the singer in a rock band that was starting to get some decent shows. How did I find that out? By perusing mydeadspace.com one day and BAM there is the story of some band's lead singer dropping over dead on stage in front of like 1000 people. I'm like...NO WAY.....I KNOW that guy! SC

Well as we know, Dr. Know (Gary Miller) got better -- for now. Ahh, but now it's the SINGER'S turn! Bad Brains singer Paul “H.R.” Hudson has been diagnosed with a rare neurobiological disorder known as ‘SUNCT' that causes extreme, crippling headaches. Hudson’s wife Lori announced the news with the launch of a GoFundMe campaign to help raise $30,000 for treatment at a headache center not covered by their health insurance. In an accompanying statement, Lori wrote: “There is no known cure and no reliable medical treatment. To give you an idea of what he’s dealing with, cluster headaches are nicknamed ‘Suicide Syndrome.’” SC

No, nice try Charon, but I got too much respect for Deathray. -
This eliminates a few very popular picks such as Zsa x2, Bhumibol, and Kirk Douglas, who are either a 3 or 9, already taken. Billy Graham, OTOH, is a 1. Now THERE'S a name to look at. It's either him or Adams. --------------- OK I've now done my homework Again, the numerals 3-4-7-8-9 are taken, thus no one with that numeral is possible. 3: (Crowe) Gabor, MTM, Carter, Pirsig, Kissinger, Greaves 4: (Vigoda) LzSmith, Banks 7: (Reagan) Interestingly she's the only one out of fifty names! 8: (Boutras-Ghali) de Cuellar, Norden, Ali, Gascoigne 9: (Michelmore) de Havilland, Adulyadej, KDouglas, CJames, Noakes That leaves the following, but before we get there, The Reaper has made it CLEAR he is only taking folks 94 or older (unless gravely ill -- but we haven't any imo), so I'm eliminating anyone 93 or younger. 0: Prince Philip, Lord Carrington, Stan Lee (Bush, Randi, Domino, Hawking all too young) 1: Havelange, BGraham, Sallis (Gall and Dole too young) 2: None (Joost, Scales, MWalker, Forsyth all too young) 5: VLynn (Chong, Phillips, Piggott all too young) 6: Wouk, RAdams, Lamotta (Ellis, Castro, Tutu, Campbell, Chirac all too young) So there you have it, the list of 10 real possibilities, the rest are lagniappe. If you've chosen someone outside of the bold names, you are bloody wrong. SirC
