Update about Glen's condition via his wife. He's now officially stage 6 of 7, doesn't really know what's going on or understand anyone, mumbles short phrases. Quite sad really. SC

Been a bad 6 weeks or so for Subway. SC

I thought that had been posted some time ago. I recall making the comment it's the 5th 'Simon' surname to die this year. Maybe I dreamed all of it. Maybe it was on my DP, I dunno. SC

Is she related to Midge Ure? I think my life has met its quota of knowing people with the surname Ure. SC

Where Will The Next School Massacre Be?

Just so we're clear on the rules here, shooter tops themselves, doesn't count right? Only if he was the sole victim. Otherwise it is par for the course. Seems like gunman may be another Proffesor http://www.14news.com/story/30025217/active-shooter-at-delta-state-university?clienttype=generic but I guess that's a bit academic now. To be fair to Sir Creep, it was ongoing, as stated, and the gunman was on the loose. Is it Sir Creep's fault he didn't reload? SC -

Did it involve a chainsaw?lol I've seen that thread before. Likely the least used but highly intriguing threads.SC -
Way beyond the cusp, BBC obit guaranteed as well as probably being the lead obit that day in the Guardian. Would probably even get a tribute show on Radio 2 actually. Oh wow.... I was having my doubts because so far, the news has only been announced on a local US station, the Toronto Star, and specialist magazines. But my research wasn't all that deep, obviously. There's also the Amy Winehouse connection - Sharon's band the Dap Kings also recorded with Amy. Releases album! Has cancer, announces it, Grammy committee feels sad, gives nomination. Premier of her documentary! Has cancer, announces it....... Call my cynical SC

Cory Ledbetter (age 42, full stop), New Mexico State Univ QB, led the nation in total offense one year. Played a little in the CFL. Then decided treating women like shit was a good idea. Meh, we all have our foibles :-| lol One more suicide for the books if anyone is keeping score at home. I love the idea of a suicide thread but apparently I'm in the minority. Coulda stuck this in Under 45 thread as well. Like many posts, they offer alternatives. SC http://krqe.com/2015/09/08/former-nmsu-star-quarterback-dies-at-42/ -

Found one that almost got away. Tag Ribary, a long-time member of the Seattle Seahawks front office, died Friday (Aug 28?) at the age of 48. The former Seahawks executive had parted ways with the franchise in May after working for the team since 2009. Ribary worked for Seattle as an assistant director of pro personnel from 1990-2000 before joining the Washington Redskins as director of pro personnel in 2001. After one year, Ribary became a pro scout for the Carolina Panthers until returning to Seattle. I'm not participating at this point in Rotten Dead Pool, but wanted to shout out that I am currently #1 overall in the world with 11 hits (since Jan 15) in Dougstanhopescelebritydeathpool.com. Thanks to convoluted scoring I'm 9th overall and no hope of gaining much ground. SC

Archbishop Buechlein remains a great pick imho. I can't find a recent health update re: lymph node cancer, but this parish (from his hometown Indianapolis) has him listed in their 'Pray for the Sick' weekly bulletin Sept 7. Don't know if that's an ongoing thing till he dies, or if they know something on a personal level and he's taking a turn for the worse. SC

Nothing of note to update Ms. Bettencourt, but I only recalled her name and really couldn't place her. So after wiki -- I'm being told that she, basically the owner of L'Oreal and not much else I can attest to, is somehow the 10th wealthiest person in the world with $41B? For cosmetics??????? WTF? And it isn't like it's the only cosmetic line, though maybe they have a 90% market share in Europe or some shit? How in fucking hell does owning L'Oreal make someone $41B. Bollocks I say. And anyone responding defending that statistic I say bollocks to you as well. Poppycock in fact! SC

But in both instances he was posted in threads of lesser import. The guy built a career in soap operas, and though you mention one of them, yet somehow his obit didn't get put in that thread. Alas, poor Mr Connell...SC

Jonathan Woods, the longest-serving director of Ohio State University's marching band, has died. He was 76. University spokesman Chris Davey confirmed that Woods died Saturday. Woods spent 28 years directing the marching band until his retirement after the 2011-12 academic year. Then and now, fans often refer to the band by the initials TBDBITL, for "The Best Damn Band in the Land." They really are. RIP SC http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/apexchange/2015/09/12/us--obit-jonathan-woods.html
