Barry Bartmann, who had been a political science professor at UPEI since 1987, died suddenly at home on Friday at 73. Bartmann was also one of the professors involved in a human rights complaint against UPEI after being forced to retire. The P.E.I. Human Rights Commission ruled in the professors’ favour, forcing the university to compensate for lost income from 2007 to 2010. Is that a W10 'bug' or has the site changed something?)

Didn't someone post a video of some guy on a talk show having a heart attack? See, it doesn't have to be violent. Hell for that matter is Americans all got to see Hank Gathers' heart explode during the NCAA basketball tourney that's a pretty big audience I imagine. SC

Jack Ruby (Lee Harvey Oswald) might have something to say about that.

What's that to do with murder? That was the question posed. And I said as much. SC

Well I was unaware of further details, but thank you for saying 9/11 doesn't count but a photograph does. Anyway, may as well post the vid! SC

Meh. The 'dahling' quip is misplaced, as that's a reference to Green Acres and of course that's EVA Gabor not Zsa Zsa so it's a fail. SC

I was at work so didn't see it at the time but the Detroit news feed is quite famous for being live when the second plane hit the tower on 9/11. I know it's not totally to the point but hey. I would think there are a few of these incidents now and again of reporters et.al dying on a live feed (weather reporter's helicopter crashes I know of a couple), but a murder? You may be onto something, can't think of one off the top o' me noggin. SC

0% on REM. the other band members won't get together with Michael Stipe because they believe he's a self-centered narcissistic arrogant ass, a belief they've arrived at because.....well......they've met him. SC

What....dead? That would totally suck. He's relatively amusing in his own way, and Dr. Demento used to play a few of his recordings. SC

A San Francisco Bay-area man died after being run over by a World War Two-era tank during a family reunion over the weekend at a property owned by the chairman of Jelly Belly Candy Co, officials and the family said. The California Highway Patrol said 54-year-old Kevin Wright was riding on the front of the 1944 model M5 tank on Saturday afternoon when he lost his balance and fell in front of the vehicle as it traveled down a hill. Looks like the old girl still had one in her! SC http://1065thebuzz.com/news/articles/2015/aug/25/man-dies-after-run-over-by-tank-at-jelly-belly-chairmans-california-property/

Won't be any coffey tomorrow morning. Charlie Coffey, who brought a potent passing attack to Virginia Tech during three seasons as the Hokies' coach in the early 1970s, has died at age 81. Coffey died at home Monday night in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the school said. He died after a long battle with cancer, according to the University of Tennessee, where Coffey was a three-year letterman and later an assistant coach. SC -
Seems there a lot of new drugs around that are making cancer more treatable in the last couple of years.Valerie Harper is another example of someone who has likewise benefited from trial drugs.I believe some of Sam Simon`s drugs were new also and he lived an astonishing time considering the spread of his cancer..Maybe cancr in the next two decades will become more like AIDS has i.e more manageable and less of a death sentence. Gordie Howe and Bart Starr (and John Brodie) had stem cell injections that can only be gotten in Mexico (ie not available in the USofA)....and to date all have gone from death's door to dancing a reel or two. In fact it was 6 months ago or so Howe got to bury his brother than the other way around, as expected in November 2014. SC

Cmon people. Today we have a couple of composers. Oscar Hammerstein II (55 years) who co-wrote the greatest musicals of all including the best of all, South Pacific. And David Rose (25 years) who wrote The Stripper, and for that is immortalized. SC
