A gang armed with machetes hacked a secular blogger to death at his home in Dhaka on Friday in the fourth such murder in Bangladesh since the start of the year, an activist group and police said. Niloy Chakrabarti, who used the pen-name Niloy Neel, was killed after the gang broke into his apartment, according to the Bangladesh Blogger and Activist Network, which was alerted to the attack by a witness. They do mean something, it's a lot more likely that a 90-year-old who had two heart attacks the past year and is currently suffering from pneumonia will die than a 90-year-old in good health. Sure, many of this year's deaths such as Christopher Lee or Patrick MacNee were random but you still have a better chance of being right if you choose Martin Crowe than if you choose Cliff Michelmore or Javier Perez de Cuellar. As for Crowe I gave you the exact date of his death months ago. Take heed. SC

I'm one of I think 2 or 3 to even pick one right this year. You're barking up the wrong tree go bitch at the good DrZ. All the logic we use and information hasn't meant SHIT when a mathematician gets killed in a taxi for not wearing a seat belt. What were the odds?.... Logic has nothing to do with guessing correctly. Why bother with updated health info, surgeries, terminal illnesses, shite public appearances, emergency hospitalizations. They mean nothing. Someone from left field is always dropping over. So instead of very logical names like Kohl or Crowe, I am going to provide a name that is totally forgotten about, and catching lightning in a bottle for the second time this year. And with that, I give to you the 11th hit of 2015: Olivia De Havilland SirC

Ruth Newman is reportedly dead on August 1st. This leaves the 1906 San Francisco earthquake survivor count to William de Monte being the last known survivor. Who the fuck keeps track of that; how did you find it; what the fuck is going on on this big blue marble whilst it spins?,! SC It's called "research" Not answering my question. I don't believe for one second (and it's moot now) that one could enter 'living survivors of the San Francisco earthquake 1906' and that anyone anywhere on the Web had that list. As a goddamn LIBRARIAN and former CORPORATE SPY (er... collector of actionable business intelligence) I think I know a wee bit about 'research'. I also think I know what is simply too obtuse to obtain, like 'living survivors of the San Francisco earthquake 1906'. So again I ask, who the fuck keeps track of that? I doubt the San Francisco Chronicle had a story posted years back listing the few survivors still breathing, but impress me with a link. SC

A former colleague of a family member, and apparently enjoyable company too. It's been a bad year for notable old historians. Sorry to hear that. This was kinda a back pages obit I stumbled across and almost didn't post till I read all the way through. SC

Search came up empty hope this month old obit isn't a reboot. Michael J. Birck, one of Tellabs' six co-founders and its CEO, 77, died Monday. He retired as Tellabs' chairman in 2013 after disclosing in August 2012 that he was being treated for an uncommon form of bone marrow cancer and would not run for re-election to its board. Birck had retired from his role as CEO in 2004, at age 65. SC http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-birck-tellabs-obit-0708-biz-20150707-story.html

So glad taxpayers kept this cunt alive 41 years vs $5.00 bullet. Shirley Curry, 79, serving a life sentence for five murders in Washington County, died Monday morning at the McPherson Unit in Newport of natural causes, the Correction Department said. Curry was convicted in the July 1974 slayings of her ex-husband, three children and former sister-in-law after custody of the children was awarded to her ex-husband. A sixth person, her former brother-in-law, was wounded. SC http://m.arktimes.com/ArkansasBlog/archives/2015/08/05/five-time-killer-dies-in-womens-prison-41-years-after-multiple-slayings

Legendary Tuscaloosa golfer Oswill McGee Jackie Cummings died Saturday at age 80. Cummings won the 1990 U.S. Senior Amateur and was the No. 1-ranked senior amateur in the world that year. He won three Alabama State Amateur championships and played in the U.S. Senior Open seven times. Oh but wait it gets better (if you've read this fucking far you deserve a 'happy ending'). "Cummings was godfather to local golfer Dicky Pride, who has played professionally for more than two decades." That's right: DICK PRIDE. My favourite sports name ever! So a guy named CUMMINGs was Godfather to Dick Pride You can't make that shit up! Do I win some kinda DL site award for 2015 for best obit? this was posted in 2005 and Falwell died suddenly in 2007, how?Don't recall. But I'm posting to say that's a shitty 'coincidental deaths' seeing as Falwell DID get into my Coincidental Deaths db..!Falwell, Tammy Faye Bakker, Rex Humbard and one other televangelism stalwart (Oral Roberts maybe? I'm doing this off the top of my head) all died in about 90 days. THOSE are the real coincidences, not Sister Lucia whoever the living hell she is. As for the Pope, I don't recall his death being coincidental with anything, as I lumped televangelists together and didn't have to stretch to make something out of nothing. SirC
