I'm guessing Coleman was a household name in the Moody household, but not vice versa. Kidding (?) aside, Moody I'm certain was a big loss to most of you, this being a primarily British site. But I'm here to tell you on a worldwide level this isn't a particularly close comparison. SC

Agreed re: end of year I just wanted to get a few months outta the way. For me, Edgar Froese is the biggest death this year this far....broke my heart to hear it. Hopefully it stays that way but if/when Chris Squire goes I will literally cry. SC

Jim Ed Brown got the all clear from cancer a couple of months ago, however the disease has now returned. Shit he was my joker for next year. That 'disease' is called lung cancer in an 81-yr old. I knew he was dead meat. SC According to his daughter (in the quote above) she states it's not in his lungs, so it wouldn't be lung cancer. Instead it would be "insert-affected-organ-here cancer" Dead. http://www.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/music/2015/06/11/country-singer-jim-ed-brown-dies/71097224/ Aarrrgghh!!!!! Dammit!!! Rest in hell you country bumpkin bastard SC

The only people who care about months are tax inspectors, astrologers and period-havers. Just post your damned list DrZ SC

I hear that. No one worth a shit and four people of extreme note in 6 hours. Dusty Rhodes for me hurts the worst....just cuz I expected CLee to die at some point. I'd have named 10 wrestlers I'd expect to die before Dusty SC
-
I was researching Nash, CLee, Reagan, Dole, and Kerkorian a couple weeks ago, cuz I wanted some reason to include them next year. Four hours later Nash died; two weeks and Christopher Lee dies. Of the three remaining, Kerkorian is older than dirt. I vote Kirk. SC
-
Cool, I predicted that a few weeks ago. Cool? Fuck off and die. SC
-
Ankou, Rhodes was on his way down by the mid-80s cuz he was an old man. His hey day was 1968-81 or so SC
-
Really? I only know him from his days in the WWF (late 80s I think) and he wasn't really that impressive to watch. But then, what do I know about wrestling? Bujt I'm sure that people like him wouldn't have a chance to step into the ring with the current fad of pretty boys and bodybuilders in the ring. This fucking ugly day sucks. Go to hell Reaper. Goddamn haven't we lost enough big names and now Dusty... I remember Bobo Brazil attacking Dusty Rhides with a fork. Best match ever. RIP dusty Rhodes Sir Creep

He's actually a huuuuge name in jazz circles. That's a very significant death. Not as big as Christopher Lee's, but bigger than Ron Moody's. Indeed a huge name (I'm a musicals fan so I'll disagree on Moody ha ha). Apparently he had just filed a lawsuit against his former colleagues for releasing New Vocabulary without his permission. Maybe the shock and strain of the last year in preparation for this step was too much, I dunno. http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6582967/ornette-coleman-lawsuit-antibalas-jordan Indeed, very unexpected. I had him on my deathrace team, mainly because in contrast to many other blues/jazz legends, he quit touring and stopped recording. He was one of the last people from the golden age of jazz. Miles Davis or John Coltrane died rather early deaths, so he was a bit overdue... Yet, the lawsuit indicated otherwise, but then Christopher Lee signed on to a new movie last month. These are the statistical deaths you cannot predict in particular, only in the aggregate. Wow a day full of big names and now Coleman has left us?! Holy moly. Yes he's about as big a name as was in living jazz artists. Sad day today. SC

Guest got me by two minutes well done. Man, I found nothing on Lee a couple weeks ago same day I researched Nash. RIP I also researched Nancy Reagan and Bob Dole and found nothing so those two should be next. SirC

Yet another thread I can't believe has died and withered. 2015 (so far): Reasons are personal and contradict each other on a monthly basis and that's ok it's my list my rules. "Most Significant" can mean a lot of things, but in general if the wind got taken outta my sails for a brief moment, I felt real sadness and that's 'significance'. Otoh my DPs were all sassy with points when Givens died, and it was an I Told You So moment and this my greatest pick in DP so far, and thus significant. I also love those goofy people we didn't know about but who impacted our lives, so June for instance I only have one person worth a damn and it's the inventor of the hula hoop, which is significant. My rules my list. Jan - Edgar Froese; Donna Douglas / Ernie Banks Feb - Ahmad Givens; Leonard Nimoy / Dean Smith Mar - Sam Simon; Gene Patton / Michael Graves Apr - Percy Sledge; Jonathan Crombie / Gary Dahl / Albert Taubman May - BB King and Marques Haynes (tie); Rutger Gunnarsson June - Chris Squire; Horst Brandstaetter July - Rowdy Roddy Piper; Master Gee / Charlie Sanders / Kathleen Snavely Aug - Vincent Maotta Sr.; Yvonne Craig / Bud Yorkin / Herbert Wise Sept - Yogi Berra; Daniel Thompson / Phil Woods ------ SirC

When the summer and winter Olympics are merged in real life, I'd be happy to do the same with these threads. Well can the other thread be renamed Summer Olympians? "Olympic Medallists" leaves no room for interpretation and covers all Olympians regardless of any actions taken. We can humor YW and let him post here. SC
