    Political Frailty

A former Deputy Governor of Taraba State and Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign organisation, Saleh Danboyi is dead. Danboyi, aged 59, was said to have slumped in his house in Jalingo on Friday night and was quickly rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost. He was deputy governor of the state from 1999 to 2003. SC http://www.osundefender.org/?p=239308

    Shove Off, Eh?

There is probably not one Canadian woman (and maybe some men) in my age group that isn't gutted by news of Jonathan's death. I had such a crush on his Gilbert Blythe. It is just so sad. I think my daughter has the DVDs. Maybe PBS will air all three mini-series in Jonathan's memory.I damn near opened with 'sorry ladies...' As you are spot on. Growing up in Detroit we got to watch CBC right across the river... So I'm fully versed in Canadian programming and classics. PBS showing the trilogy would be cool, and I'd cuddle up (with a few beers this time lol ) and watch. I found the third offering an obtuse story with war and all that and Anne going to the Front, but I'm over it. Thanks to my ex wife I now fully enjoy costume dramas and at least the first two parts of AOGG. SC

    Birth List

Haha I'm impressed with the Johnny-come-latelys that hear some info and suddenly have an epiphany, as we have seen with recent 'guesses' of Crowe or BBKing in the '3rd death of 2015' thread. Now here we got people suddenly 'guessing' dates 48 hours away. I fully expect that someone will post a 'guess'---as news hits that the baby is crowning---with a date and time 30 minutes hence. SirC

    Animal Antics

Works out to about 30000 bees per hive, which, according to google, falls within the typical hive population of 20,000 to 60,000, depending on the time of year. Wow had no idea. Kinda sad really given the recent concern over honey bee populations. I've just started seeing a few in my clovers that I rarely saw the past 4-5 years before. SC

    Animal Antics

Approx 13.7 MILLION bees have gone to that great hive in the sky after a truck carrying 458 hives rolls over in Washington state, creating a "beenado (tornado of bees), which frankly sounds awesome. Ain't done the math but that seems an awful lot of bees per hive. Does it to anyone else? I read through a few entries; this is great stuff. Hard not to appreciate the obscure. For example the January entry for the Moir Sisters due to one of their deaths, now I wanna hear that shit. And I know full well going I to it that it will be....and don't care. SirC

Maybe not exactly reality TV, but it's a Bravo show, close enough. Daisy Llewelyn (Blood Sweat & Heels) has stage 3 liver cancer. A lovely addition to your 2016 list , but she prolly won't obit so I'm posting her here and not under 'Possibilities' SC http://bossip.com/1123447/get-well-soon-daisy-lewellyn-of-blood-sweat-heels-reveals-stage-3-liver-cancer-battle/

    Joni Mitchell

Getting back on rant, again, how is Joni Mitchell 'folk music'? Worse, the damned topic says Gordon Lightfoot, which under no definition of folk music would he (or the song Sundown) be included (not even a Brit definition). Someone shoulda railed on the doofus who created the thread the day it happened. It's pop music, period. Easy Listening. Whatever. But not FOLK music. Folk music is protest music (see: Pete Seeger; Peter Paul & Mary). What next, Harry Chapin was 'folk' music? The next protest song Lightfoot or Mitchell write will be the first one they write. Joni is as much jazz (see Mingus album) as folk if you're going to cubbyhole her incorrectly. Get your definitions right and heads outta your arses. *musician and OCD asshole climbing down from soap box* SC

    20th Century Americans Sitcoms

Well I ran ino the same problem recently: http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6496&p=224349 And I had two other people at the pub I was sitting in helping google for an obit lmao (true)....but we came up empty and I never did find confirmation. Powers being a little more in the public eye, you'd expect to find something more than "a friend tweeted about his death". But it's been 12 days now. Fair reason to question the veracity of the friend. SC Edit: this inspired me to find an obit for Ray Meyers, and I finally did :-)

    20th Century Americans Sitcoms

Well, following the reference therein, it takes us to this link: http://www.iloveoldschoolmusic.com/sad-news-good-times-actor-ben-powers-keith-passes-away-at-64/ ... And that link states as follows: "We do not know the exact cause of his death as of yet, but his long time friend made a public announcement a few days ago, confirming Ben’s death. As soon as we get further details surrounding his passing, we’ll post it....." I presume he may well be dead, but no other links at this time that I can find. SC
