Imagine a world where we lived to 1000. What would the retirement age be? 650? That's one hell of a lot of commutes to look forward to !Whoever that 'Californian scientist' is (I'd appreciate a link) he's certainly pulling that 80% out of his arse.I'm not so sure it's a Good Idea. With life spans as they are we already have a world-wide population issue. Multiple of 10. Drinking age 210 yrs old. Statutory rape any gal under 180. Or it better be multiple of 10, or post-menapausel women would continue to live like 815 more years. SC

Perhaps it's just a case of terminal cultural pessimism. That's not unusual in smart people on the brink of their demise. Interestingly I can't find a date of birth for this guy anywhere. Anyone able to pinpoint it? We know he's 66 so 1954-55. SC

Specifically, Feb 2014. That's last year. Do keep up. Ahhh (ugh)

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Learn how to be an irritating pain in the arse to a terminally ill cancer patient. SC http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/17-inspirational-bible-verses-for-cancer-patients/ -
Did his name dictate his career choice and serve as inspiration, one wonders. Appears to be same guy nominated for two Oscars, thus securing an obit next year. This guy is pure gold. YOU HEAR ME COMMITTEE???!! SC

Since I can't decide if he's an academia, author, or cleric category entry, I'll plant it here. J. Todd Billings, the Gordon H. Girod Research Professor of Reformed Theology at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, has published his new book about dealing with his faith and terminal cancer. Anyone with liver cancer is an automatic add. Pancreatic cancer too if two years out, Whipple procedure don't matter. Stage 4 lung cancer. Etc. I'm not telling you anything you don't know. Liver cancer an 18-month death sentence. I never saw it, kudos to Deadsox. The Guest referred to a February report though. SC

You can all thank me later..... Of course there is the obit question. "James R. Messenger, the American Telephone & Telegraph Company employee who conceived The Theory of the Information Age on December 12, 1982, then led the effort to create a global digital telecommunications infrastructure to enable the worldwide interconnection of computers, has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer." Wondering how you came to pick Percy? His liver cancer was unknown to me and hell, he was always playing a few local shows each year. Good catch Deadsox. Just a hunch? I'd have bet the farm Fats Domino w diabetes would have left us first. SC Last July he cancelled a concert due to "illness". In October he was said to be "battling liver cancer". His agent went to great lengths to assure fans that the report was overdone and he would be back doing concerts soon. A while later there was a benefit for him to raise money for treatment. I checked and he wasn't scheduled for any concerts late last year so I thought he was a good prospect. Red Flag's first post in this thread points out the cancer report in Feb 2014. For future reference, Guest, cancer reports in FEBRUARY don't do any of us any good for the current year DP. SC

That's hilarious DJL. Radio station here replayed an old interview from 4-5 years ago, and Percy said he was a huge baseball fan (rooted for the Cincinnati Reds apparently). So the tie-in to cricket/baseball I'm sure he would've enjoyed. SC

Interesting that Percy Sledge died 10 years to the day that John Fred Gourrier died, also from Baton Rouge, LA, also primarily with one monster hit ("Judy In Disguise (With Diamonds)"). SirC http://m.legacy.com/obituaries/theadvocate/obituary.aspx?n=&pid=3436989&referrer=0&preview=True

I could compare him to Nick Cave or Madonna..... Great soul singer. I was fortunate enough to see him twice after moving here to Louisiana. He played the festivals for free, I posted a clip on Youtube once. Anyway, he's local to Louisiana and international in scope. A sad day. SC
