Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

Anyways, about that Polish election, here are the main candidates and their parties (have fun trying to pronounce their names ). - Bronisław Komorowski, the current president, is fighting for a second term, and according to polls (not to be confused with Poles, who are voting for him) he will win in a LANDSLIDE. He's an independent, but everyone knows he's basically affiliated with the ruling Civic Platform/Platforma Obywatelska party. He and his party are moderates on everything. - Andrzej Duda of the main opposition party Law and Justice/Prawo i Sprawiedliwość seems to be Bronek's main competitor. They are a very strict, Catholic, right-wing party... when it comes to social issues. But when it comes to economy, they're very socialist. Ironically, they hate communism and want to "cleanse Poland of all the communist influence". We can start by sending most of their politicians on a plane to Smoleńsk again! -Janusz Korwin-Mikke, AKA Ronald Reagan's son-who-went-in-his-fathers'-steps, AKA Margaret Thatcher's soulmate, AKA the dumbarse who keeps embarrasing Poland in front of the European parliament. He's right-wing on everything, except one thing - he wants legal marijuana. Which is why he is so popular with Polish teenagers, who are, in general, very nationalist and homophobic (but they loves the weed). He recently started a new party, KORWiN, which is an acronym for... ah, whatever. Rumour has it he was kicked out of his own party for having sex with a secretary and now he's a daddy at 70-something! -Janusz Palikot, of the Your Movement/Twój Ruch party (Fun Fact: I support him and his party). It's left-wing on social issues, but moderate-to-centre-left on the economy. -Magdalena Ogórek, of the Democratic Left Alliance/Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej, which is left-wing on social issues and especially the economy. Most importantly, she's HOT! and those are the most important people. -

I was going to post about the upcoming Polish presidential elections (which will be held on May 10th) on the UK Election thread, but I realized I'd get a lot of this: "Darn, the Poles are invading Britain and now they're invading our forums!" and more optimistically, this: "Can't you see this is a forum for the UK election?" So, here's a forum for overall political discussions and stuff. -
Apparently Marge is a heavy smoker. A chain smoker at that. Kind of like me and other pupils behind the school during lunch break.

Finally some activity on this thread.

There's a girl in my class who is OBSESSED with Britain. At first, it was all fun and games... but I got creeped out when she said that she'll commit suicide if the royal baby isn't born on her birthday (25 May)... I know her well, though, and I'm sure she won't even consider doing it, but still... kind of creepy.

I have a day off today. In Poland, May 1st is Workers' Day, May 2nd is Flag Day and May 3rd is Constitution Day. Normally, I'd have 5 days off, but I only have 3 because two of those days are on the weekend -
Ah, yes. As I've mentioned I am going to make a Slav-themed DDP team for 2016 (planning early, eh?) because if I made one just for Poles I wouldn't get many obits. Andrzej Wajda was the only one I'm sure would get an obit.

http://www.irishcentral.com/news/Maureen-OHaras-former-assistant-wins-suit-against-her-nephew.html Huh. I hope the drama kills Maureen. Nah, just kidding. I'm not THAT evil.
-
BTW, fun fact: A day after Hitler and Braun killed themselves, another German husband and wife killed themselves: The Goebbels. Joseph Goebbel was declared chancellor after Hitler's suicide and served for one whole day!
-
I'm surprised nobody posted Albert Hoffman's 7th death anniversary. Would've done it myself, but I was too busy.
-
Same here. I forgot a lot of good candidates for my 2015 list, such as Woodhead or Crowe. Hope they stick around some mo'.

An 8-year-old Chinese actor named Deng Minghe died from leukemia on the 28th. Couldn't find any decent obits, but here's something: http://www.whatsonxiamen.com/ent7714.html

Personally, I can't believe that euthanasia isn't legal in most places yet. If the person is really ill, and they don't want to be in pain anymore, just let them commit assisted suicide! It's their life, not the government's!

I don't know that much about Beaty and her health, but I think that Marge of Denmark will go first.

I voted "no", but you won't see me wearing "Abolish Death Penalty" shirts. I don't care that much about this issue. Especially since I'm only a teenager, who would take a protesting teen seriously?

Goddamn, my count may be off but that's either 6 or 7 Governors, and it's only April! Unbelievable. SC But for some reason the two governors on my list (George Ryan, Pat Quinn) don't want to budge! But to be fair, Pat Quinn will live at least two more decades. I have no idea why I included him (same with Richard Daley) (Fun Fact: These are all Illinois politicans)

Yes, I started one on her own page... I meant July 25th for Chris.... Posting this is pretty useless right now because I'm pretty sure you already checked out MTM's page. But I'm doing this for the sake of bored Deathlisters, who in a few years will be looking at some posts from years ago, so they won't be confused when they come across this one. Um... unless I'm the only one who reads old posts...

I've been reading Agatha Christie lately. I read "The Mystery of the Blue Train" a few weeks ago, and just a few days ago I got a book of some of her short stories from the library.

http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-don-mankiewicz-20150427-story.html One of the writers of "I Want to Live!" is dead. Proof that you may not always get what you want.

Turns 89 tomorrow. Maybe she'll earn Party Pooper points for some lucky DDP teams...
-
But MTM is certainly going to die by the end of 2015. What's wrong with making a sweepstakes for 8 months? It's not as if we were making a sweepstakes for Zsa Zsa Gabor or somebody else who is going to live 2 more decades.
-
SWEEPSTAKES TIME! Since sweepstakes for Phil the Greek, Bum-ibol and Woodhead have started recently, why not for Mary Tyler Moore? I'll go for May 27, 2015!
