We don't need another zero! I said the Committee had a good list, and so do I. Tina Turner another shared hit. YW - 7; DL - 7.
-
Tina Turner takes me to six hits here.

And just like that, Tina Turner is my 7th hit: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/65669653

Ok, so you know I said this a few hours ago? Well, not any more baby! Tina Turner a hit for my Top of the Pops Theme Team! All teams have a hit now.

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
YoungWillz replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Just caught up with PMQs. Paul Bristow, Tory MP for Peterborough kicked out. After the kicking taken by the Conservatives, at least three questions from their side related to complaints about how councils controlled by other parties were operating. Security Risk Suella sitting next to PM, doing her best nodding dog impression now her job is secure. With food inflation at a relative 19% (much higher for certain basic items), Sunak's response is we've had a talk with the food suppliers "to see what they can do". Still happy for the taxpayer to foot Boris' legal fees for highest quality legal representation. Gawd, it's a tawdry watch. -
You know, some of us have teams without a hit yet. Sliding down the scoreboard isn't an option for some of us. Anyway @gcreptile have a Kenneth Anger based Obit to be going on with: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/kenneth-anger-experimental-filmmaker-hollywood-144520511.html

Sorry Biblio, was an idle thought on my part passing through the thread. *drives off on the Clapham omnibus*

Ok, thought I'd ask. Been a long day, eh? Gawd bless our Great Uncle. Hope he sorts it soon.
-
May I post a photo on behalf of our beloved Great Uncle? Just so it gets the points and sorts the hassle? If @Great Uncle Bulgaria doesn't mind?

Well, I'm definitely bad at deadpooling. I measure my success by survival, generally.... I'm normally at least a couple of years too early with my picks, then I forget about them. Long live my teams. (except this year, this year's my year for something, right?).
-
Not bad for a fortnight's work, eh?

I guess you haven't seen Twitter today. That's exactly what the great unwashed (with a few exceptions) are assuming. See, to me it's also disrespectful genderwise. Girls who are abused aren't mentioned in the headline generally, which is about as far as folk get normally. Therefore for some reason the words paedophile or child rapist automatically trigger folk into assuming both genders have been abused. I've seen very few headlines today that explicitly mention the gender of Rolf's victims. Hence the firestorm of references to that song. I think there needs to be a bit of thinking done by journalists as to how they responsibly headline as well as report such crimes.

Honestly no idea - there was a reason I'm sure for the list I made. I wonder why I didn't include him. Named parts maybe? Obits guaranteed? I can't remember. Now you've mentioned him though, he's on the thread.

Hey it's not my party. Given we all had our suspicions subsequently proved correct, it was a huge risk to take picking Harris as he might have already died prior to another hit being announced on the thread. Which happened. I think if it had been a lesser name there could have been some instant ruling of "tough luck" but it was a huge name. Up to the participants, but allowing Harris as a hit opens up a whole can of worms for the future. Your call though.

Yeah, nearly every news site references his death on 10 May from neck cancer and old age frailty as per the death certificate.
-
Would this be an inopportune moment to point out that Rolf Harris died waaaaayyy before the last recorded hit of Alma Adamkiene as he was already dead before the last round started?

Trinidad And Tobago boxer Claude Noel, who briefly held the WBA Lightweight title in 1981, reportedly dead: https://trinidadexpress.com/newsextra/claude-noel-has-died/article_066b2c46-f974-11ed-bf83-a782523d9033.html Was going, and latterly was, totally blind over the past few years.

Cannot find a bongo reference - damn that wobbleboard!

None of those age old jokes work with Rolf, just as they don't with Gary Glitter. This is how the British press report such stories: Girl(s) abused - "Predator caught abusing child(ren)" Boy(s) abused - "Predator caught abusing young boy(s)" Therefore the assumption that transforms the addled minds of the public is that anyone abusing girls only must have abused boys too. I'm sick of having this discussion.

He was into girls. Women and girls only. Maybe it wasn't you he was checking out.

Rolf Harris died on 10 May according to the BBC write up: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60393842

I think the stars were aligned with this one. The recent deaths of Mary Parker (appeared with him in You Lucky People!) and Dougie Squires (Young Generation choreographer - they appeared on The Rolf Harris Show) heightened my sense he was dead and that we were just awaiting confirmation. My parents saw him at Lytham St Annes on their honeymoon in the early 60s. Now he's a hit for me on the DDP and many pools.
