Various reports that Ralph Humphrey, drummer for The Mothers of Invention (1973-1974) has died after recently entering hospice care. Has also worked on many TV shows such as The Simpsons, American Idol and Star Trek: Enterprise. Can't find a proper reliable source though.

This article also references that John Farnham is still in hospital.

I really don't know. Helix were really really bad - they'd mostly open on the lads who were already getting it it on, do the biz and fade to black. I'm very much a story person - I like a plot (no matter how thin), the frisson of a meet, a seduction, that kind of thing. Helix have got a little better at story telling more recently, but they ain't no Staxus, or Boyfun. Plus I was a huge fan of mediocre acting - I loved all that 80s/90s stuff where they seemed a little drunk or just not very good, but at least it had a story, a lead in to the main event and very often a lead out to link to the next part of the movie. And shall we say, a little more verbal dialogue during the event! Ha! The OF stuff I've chanced upon has that sort of realism, but it's generally badly filmed or all from one angle. The "professional" actors are all there, paying the bills I guess, but they aren't movie makers. And at least the industry does have standards of safety, testing etc which your OF stuff can't really have, when more than one person is participating. As I say, I'd take a story even half assedly told over an hour and a half than a 30 minute home movie done in someone's kitchen.

Imo one of the many insufferably dull Helix performers who was just pretty. However, nobody should die that young. I'd like a little more detail, but the Tweet is age restricted, and I'm not joining to see it.

What I find interesting as an aside is how attitudes have changed in the 30 plus years since. Lauren (then James) wasn't indulged as a child by the general public - they found him odd, quirky and indeed somehow frightening. People tended to laugh at what they didn't understand. Now look today and the recent past where Greta Thunberg and Malala Whatsherface are treated like fucking little goddesses to be listened to and indulged by the highest authorities. That's what I find odd - not a boy who loved his specialist subject who got fucked over by his parents, although Lauren was not necessarily faultless imo in that regard. Anyway, it's all a bit of a shock that surgery has been involved and I wish no harm to her - hopefully we are not in Katie Keltie territory here.
