That's ok, thanks for drawing it to the Forum's attention and allowing me to update the list. Nobody picked him for the DDP afaik anyway.

    That Portillo Moment

Who will we be saying, so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye to today? Whose little face will crinkle up in failure? How will we know how Binface is reacting, given his face is actually a bin? And the longest day begins!

    General Election 2024?

Well, it isn't long now. Soon the news will start pretending that politicians don't exist and that there is some election going on, but your pretty head doesn't need to know where, when or what they are talking about. On the flip side, pictures of dogs at polling stations. Who's a good boy? You are. You are.

    General Election 2024?

Sunak: This election is about the future, not the past. Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you Boris Johnson. Johnson: Labour will undo all the good we have done for the country. You...simply...cannot...make...it...up.

    General Election 2024?

Just seen a report that Sunak is in some Morrisons. The sign at the bakery section says "Your baker today is Rishi". Surely that's the yeast of his worries?

    General Election 2024?

He has the look of someone who hasn't had a banquet in half an hour. IIRC he's been hiding behind doors and jumping out of undergrowth to send 30 second endorsements of a few favoured friends.

I went for a nap and missed the whole game. I've come to it very late. Well, well. A missed penalty.

    Donald J Trump

Happy to be corrected @arrowsmith . It's not like we haven't been here before in recent years when legal scholars are rushing for the TV studios and the courts about what a President has done. Let's hope that sort of nonsense stops. As I say, over to you guys. Seems to me the Constitution and the institutions need a rest from being tested and the people's priorities put first.

    Donald J Trump

I don't know - I have postulated a scenario. And it isn't necessarily the President deciding - it's the Executive Branch. You'd have thought after 200 odd years that this sort of stuff would be long decided. It's not that long ago Trump was trampling over all norms, conventions and expected rules of behaviour. And the USA was a basket case politically then. Think what this opens the door to in Trump 2025. And he'll be lame duck in a couple of years anyway, spending his time on the golf course. I just think if you were scared of your government's power now, be afraid of what this invites. Could anyone realistically hold that position in the future without the temptation to now abuse it? Ah, well, over to the American people.

    Donald J Trump

Easy Peasy. Once that is signed he can't be convicted and I would suggest renders the meaning of high crimes and misdemeano(u)rs meaningless - because he would never be able to have demonstrably committed any.

Order. All acts of mine while I am President or acting President shall be deemed to be official acts within the meaning defined in the Supreme Court ruling of 1 July 2024. Signed Donald J Trump.

    Donald J Trump

All historical Republics have fallen due to fetid corruption, infighting, the execution of political opponents and the desperate clinging to power of the wealthy and famous over the hoi polloi. All it needs is confirmation of that fact from its lawmakers and the guardians of those laws. Essentially the USA has signed its death warrant as a functioning democracy, and has become a monarchy in all but name in one ruling. IMO.

    Donald J Trump

Or if Trump is re-elected, his retribution could be to order the shooting of the three Supreme Court Justices who dissented, along with any judge who convicted him and any citizen he doesn't like. This seems extraordinary. Get your guns out of storage, his administration is coming for you.

    General Election 2024?

I keep expecting more and more desperation. Still awaiting Sunak warning that if Labour switch to the Government benches, this will make it much more difficult for the Tories to see up Angela Rayner's skirt. (Remember that?)
