I know I picked him, basically because of his historical heart issues, but I'm genuinely sad he has gone. He's internationally known in his own right and I have seen the messages from across the globe. That is never to be forgotten fame. RIP.

It would be remiss of me if Gerry Marsden is indeed a hit for me not to post the 1985 Charity #1 by The Crowd. If I get another hit from that single (I think I have three others on my TOTP team), I'll not bother posting again.

I'm still trying to find the reference, but Epstein went mad when he heard that on one date only three Beatles turned up and Gerry Marsden had to step in, singing with them on top of an orange box because Gerry was shorter than the others! So old Gerry did sing with them, if I recall correctly, just before the Fabs Parlophone deal.

Hmm, I can only find a reference to their July 1963 tour which included 6 dates at the Odeon, Weston Super Mare and them Beatles were top of the bill? Oh look @Ulitzer95, Tommy Quickly! (ha!)

Gerry Marsden's death ought to be mentioned here also. How Do You Do It? was George Martin's second single choice for The Beatles. From Philip Norman's Shout: "...a stern lecture from George Martin. "When you can write material as good as this, I'll record it," I said. ….His words sent them, chastened, into the studio, to produce a version of How Do You Do It? in which every note, and every nuance of John Lennon's lead voice, made plain their lugubrious distaste. George Harrison, halfway through, produced a guitar solo not far removed in scale and ambition from the twanging of a rubber band."

As @paddyfool has said he won't run this again, I think it behoves me as Champ 2019 to carry a legacy game. I will not enter a team. Looking at this year's Deathlist, please try to predict exactly which out of its fifty entries will prove a hit this year by submitting a list of names from the Deathlist 50 whom you actually predict to die. Points will be allocated as follows: +1 per death correctly predicted -1 per death incorrectly predicted +4 if the number of deaths you predict matches the actual number of deaths EDIT for clarity: by which I mean the number of names in your list matches the actual number of deaths +2 if you only miss the correct total number of deaths by 1 -2 if you miss the total number of deaths by more than 5 +1 bonus for a "unique" correct prediction (predicted by no other punter here) +1 bonus if you pick the bookie's favourite (single most popular guess in this contest) and they are a hit. -1 penalty if you pick the bookie's favourite and they are a miss. A further +1 bonus for every 3rd correctly predicted death (+1 on 3rd, 6th, 9th etc) You may if you wish select one entry as a joker, for whom all rewards, bonuses, and/or penalties will be doubled. In the event of a tie on points, the dead-lock (see what I did there) will be broken by the following: 1) Whichever team had the most hits 2) If unbroken by 1, whichever team was closest in their guess of predicted deaths for the year 3) If unbroken by 1 and 2, whichever team was submitted first. Entries in by Jan 9th, please, either by pm or by posting here. Good stuff! Alas, I'm taking a break from many pools this year, so I'll not be entering. But I will always have "Winner of Inaugural Correctlist" to add to my achievements on the Forum. Which makes it my one and only achievement (if you don't count predicting Princess Charlotte's birth date!).

Go on paddyfool, take it back and make a new game (remember that tricky double bonus needs to be addressed).I believe adding in those "deaths predicted" bonuses at the end rather than through the game made it easier to run. I think I was lucky (unlucky?) to get a record breaking year! Should be less of a chore this year? (I actually think this is the most in line with my thinking Deathlist ever and think it's a solid 15 hits, maybe slightly more).

Even the BBC can't confirm a date of death for Michael McKevitt. Anyway, those who have an interest have until the 7th to find something to push him into 2020! Although it is looking like he's died after the bells have chimed in 2021 at present. Also still waiting for any late notifications or obits. I'm working by anglepoise lamp in a deserted casino!

So, he's on Pointless Celebrities later if anyone has the energy to watch. Mind you I never know what is a repeat and what is new with that programme now.

I'll rely on you to keep me advised then! Imo Catherine Tate was the best thing to happen - some of the best comedic and tragic moments in recent history. We don't need hugs and kisses or other soap opera - we need adventures, excitement, new worlds, scientific fantasy and fantastic dialogue. From that, heightened moments of tension and emotion can have more effect, I think. I think you are right that the stories are weak - essentially almost every part of tonight was re-hashed from previous stories, bordering on plagiarism. I felt I was watching previous episodes that had been through a tumble dryer, and come out with fluff and nonsense layered over it. Acht, others will have loved it in equal measure I'm sure.

I have never seen such a parody piss take of a show in my life. All the main characters essentially became guest stars in their own show, none more so than the Time Lord. The Doctor became a second rate weakling with little to offer while all the essential "heroic" elements of the show you would normally expect to see were glossed over. This was a showcase of CGI, the best line of the show "This is going to be a PR disaster" came from a second string character and was so badly thrown away, the camera didn't even pick him up saying it. You also don't get new viewers enchanted by the show by constantly expecting the audience to already know 90 percent of the history - it's become so incestuous, even the cavalier attitude shown towards somebody who wanted to know what was going on was dismissed and treated like a child who ought to shut up and accept what was going on. Hopefully everybody knows who is leaving, imo the two characters who made it bearable. And now they seem to be introducing a COMPLETE CUNT as a new companion. Can't say more to remain spoiler free. I'm done with it. I really am. I never thought I'd see the day. Someone tell me when they see an episode worth watching and I may have a gander.
