I'd say there is a difference between "celebrities" and "genuinely talented people". The climate where every minor reality personality is deemed a "celebrity" will only increase the number of "celebrity deaths". These attention seeking fame whores are increasingly edging out obituaries of even the most beloved of character actors, writers, etc etc. 10 years ago maybe even 20 folk like Geoff Stephens/Philip Martin for example would have got a good and detailed write up within a few days. But no, too much hard work. And the period for write up in our 24 hour news cycle is so small it seems these days, they are forgotten and move on, granting some nobody who was wheeled on to talk about their cancer and who dies young instant fame. (Thank goodness there was somebody prepared to do the work on Philip Latham!). So anyway, "celebrity" deaths will inevitably increase, it's just the vast majority of folk won't give a shit.

Just by a general feeling rather than stats, the person who seems to get most hits in the 6 months after closing in December is....Sean. Not to say he would have won every year, depending on bonuses, but he'd likely be king of this pool if it ran for a year. It's the working out of bonuses that concerns me too - I'd probably also have to re-rack how the leaderboard was set out. But I'm all for democracy! Initially it really was for those disappointed in a Cup run to have something to engage with for a run-in to year end. That could change if more folk want a year pool though. I'll ask nearer the time but all views welcome.
