Interestingly his IMDB says he was living on Stow On The Wold in 2009 - mention of Stow Surgery in the Death Notice seems to confirm it is him? One of our great character actors gone if so.

What you can do on television! Not many sets, the special effects were ropey at best but the acting in an episodic show is truly what carries Sapphire & Steel through! I have to say, the set for The Railway Station in particular is magnificent.
