Machiko Kyo has a Washington Post obit, but I don't think it counts here? I dunno, I only recently rejoined the fray. It's not as if we in Europe can read it anyway.

I was recently thinking about that scene in Prick Up Your Ears re Joe Orton's mum's funeral. Turns out it wasn't anyone at the funeral but a builder en route. I'm surprised there are not more liaisons - they are strong, silent and attentive and you are at your most vulnerable. Yet outside of actual funerals, I've never met a person who worked at a funeral directors. Anyway, thought I'd pen a few thoughts, and re-air this long-forgotten thread for our newer readers. If they have any input....

Jim Bakker still on the grift trail, selling a $45 Trump 2020 coin which can be used as a point of contact between you and God to pray for Trump's victory. https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a27478606/jim-bakker-pray-coin-president-donald-trump-45/ And on such matters Jim and Tammy Faye are set to be immortalised (ha, love that word in the context of these two) in a movie with Andrew Garfield and Jessica Chastain: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jessica-chastain-andrew-garfield-star-jim-tammy-faye-bakker-biopic-1209404

Ah, I'm afraid there is a problem with that proposal at the moment.

Darrol Blake who directed The Stones of Blood for Doctor Who is apparently 82 today! Directed episodes of The Tomorrow People and Doomwatch and was a production designer for Adam Adamant Lives! Looking at his output he's also directed for EastEnders, Coronation Street, Crossroads, Emmerdale and Brookside. Produced and directed Tucker's Luck. Apparently he created the original Blue Peter set. Possible obit given his work when he goes.

Still waiting on a Palestinian rocket strike. Australia made their performance even better than their national final. And it's likely to win imho. Also, possible fatality if it all goes wrong! If you haven't seen it please have a look, even through your fingers if needed.

I disagree with Edmonds' personal views as much as I disagree with Sting's personal views. Doesn't stop me having an admiration for his shows and performances. Kyle though. I believe he is sick in the head like Ricky Gervais for example. They are out and out bullies who make entertainment out of bullying people. And that can only lead to a confirmation that such behaviour is acceptable. The kind of "Why aren't you normal like me?" attitude akin to the "You are fat/disbled/bald/wear glasses/got no teeth, if only you worked harder you could be normal" whatever that is. The Island show I've never seen, I'm assuming that's different in that high maintenance vain people go on and find they are not quite as beautiful on the inside and the requirement that the general public demand they remain as beautiful but flawed and stay in the papers because without that they have nothing. But I'm guessing purely from the format. Should have realised people were going to die from being on the show as soon as my dad started watching it....
