Not sure I'd bracket Starr with Manning and Davidson. Starr was from a music background initially, so was exposed to a wider circle of people and he was clever not to push the rather blatant narrow "comedy" of the latter two. Interestingly, if you watch episodes of things like The Two Ronnies (oh how beloved they were!) from the early 1970s, the open sexism and racism would take your breath away today. Times were different, really different.

Everyone is different, everyone's sense of humour has a slight twist to it. Josie leaves me cold, not to say many others do find her hilarious. I will say imo she's not that great on Just A Minute, you'd have thought she'd have picked up summat from Paul Merton after all these years. Back to Slattery, slurring words, forgetful and fat. Proposing redo of WLIIA at Edinburgh this year, not sure how grand he'll be at improv given his performance tonight. Josie's going and he is trying to get Mike McShane. Those thinking of picking him in the future might want to invest in tickets.

He's on This Week tonight. Now. I gather.

Well one to watch it's a Twitter report. Bears to be from her husband (mentioned by name on Wiki and IMDB) and let's face it, who on earth would take a lesser known personality/character actress and hoax it up? We may never know the truth in the post truth society we live in....

Still watching Question Time, but caught sight of this. I will say that by the time I was seeing Freddie Starr in the 1970s, he was already old hat. His impressions were out of date and his jokes were a bit grating even for the time. I will also say, however that he was a master of slapstick, and should have concentrated on that. Very much marmite cult. In any event, an institution, so RIP.

Well, here's a notification of the death of Kim Clifford, actress who appeared as Vicky The Barmaid in an episode: Probably better known as Sandra in London's Burning, with other appearances in Goodnight Sweetheart, Colin's Sandwich and Tucker's Luck. Looks like she was only 58. IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0166655/

Thanks Captain for running this game and congrats to DI. (I'm guessing if you search "congrats DI" or "Congratulations Death Impends" or some combination, you get a screed of hits only matched by "cunto")!

Meantime, smugnuts jolly hockey sticks debating school wee lassie Ruth Davidson (leader of the Scottish Tories, in case you don't know) has gone from "We will beat the SNP at the 2021 Holyrood elections." https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1122157/ruth-davidson-prime-minister-scotland-bute-house-2021-holyrood-elections-nicola-sturgeon to "Holy fuck, at least Theresa May is doing a great job and even though I'm a remainer we really must deliver Brexit against the wishes of every Scottish constituency." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-48137402 Only Labour's Ricky Rotten (Richard Leonard) and his band of Corbyn loyalists being so utterly crap keep this woman in a job. Somebody send them both the memo in light of the SNP regaining Dundee City control. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-48147605 -

While we in Scotland look on in bemusement, it is worth remembering that while the Shire (the ghost of charon compels me) is having its local elections it was the Con Government who raised the foreign aid budget at the same time as cutting the local government budget, all in real terms. So when your local library closes and your road falls to pieces and your Council Tax goes up to pay for extra police, take comfort that those in Yemen are receiving humanitarian aid. Oh wait, the Government sold the arms to Saudi Arabia to cause the crisis there. Well maybe there are some acting troupes in Rwanda getting some help at least. Think on that when you are tripping over the local homeless and reading in your local paper that your councillor is taking a photo op at the opening of the latest food bank. In the UK. In the 21st century. Jesus H.
