Not what I wrote, read again. I think the "generosity" of Westminster re Independence is overrated and hardly an advert for London. (I'm not an advocate for indy btw, Home Rule or a federal Britain, yes). Overruling the settled will of the Scottish Parliament which it has done twice though is. The whims of either Labour or Tories regarding Scotland are not something I enjoy.

Maybe they could show just how fit Sunak is and up for the fight by making him swim 30 lengths of a Pot Noodle.
-
Apparently there's been a pro-Palestine protest disrupting a Sunak event today. Today there have been 10,000+ migrants on boats arriving in the UK this year. Stop The Votes!!!!

Ah, the convention of a dissolution of Parliament debate, allowing those who managed to avoid scandal, disrepute and recall to jizz one last time over the green benches in the Commons. You know, that time could have been used to pass legislation. But no, it's important to hear from those leaving the Commons hear the sound of their own voices one last time. They could just fuck off you know. -
I don't know, nor really care. It was ok for Westminster when there was a little dribble of SNP MPs, when there was a lot of them, the old English Nationalism took hold. I have seen empty benches recently on E&W legislation, but perhaps that is out of deference rather than law. I'd have thought we'd have heard of a Scottish MP being able to become PM again, if it had been reversed. Note, it is still open to Labour or the Tories when back to change the rules again.

Ian Murray for Labour on Sky. Bit more flesh on the bones but not so much as you could pick off during the last minutes of a banquet. He seems to think you could have Scottish MPs in the Cabinet. Well, that's interesting. Because as far as I know, representatives of Scottish seats are still barred from speaking and voting on matters solely relating to England and Wales. So they'd better change that - no wait, that might allow the SNP back to voting on those matters. Oh what a fucking pickle.

So Starmer is in Scotland. Speaking to Beth Rigby, correct me if I'm wrong, he says he wants as many Labour MPs from Scotland to provide strong voice and representation for Scotland, because he wants to be PM for the whole of the UK. So, if I interpret that right, if Scotland doesn't vote for Labour, Scotland's voice will not be heard and therefore...fuck you. I remember the days (and yes I'm being a bore on this point) when Scottish Labour First Ministers implemented policies by a Labour Government designed for Middle England, not Scotland. We already know there is some tension between the Scottish Labour Party and the UK one, though we won't see it during the campaign. I'm afraid he needs to be pressed on this - what he may reverse in Scotland through his branch office is quite the threat we need to know about.

I have no idea about "crypto" or "meme". So while the internet rages and screams about this news, at length and with little point, I'll try and have a wee break from trying to find deaths of people who matter, as I am not going to find them in amongst the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Played Inspector Nelson in the Poirot episode The Third Girl. Which is on right now on ITV3.

Jo Churchill and Huw Merriman the latest Tories to abandon the sinking ship and refusing to stand at the next election, along with Eleanor Laing and James Grundy. And there's still time for more!

From 2022: The man is a consistent charlatan and anyone who says he's better than the last few incumbents is delusional. Lied to Laura K about knowing about Partygate. Fined for Partygate. Used the tax system as Chancellor to protect his wife's wealth. Gave tax breaks to children's homes in which his wife had a financial interest. Brexiteer who has allowed hundreds of thousands of people into the country every year in legal migration, but scraps infrastructure projects like HS2. Promises levelling up but again fails to allow for essential infrastructure like GP's, travel arrangements and local shops or even housing to be built. That's all on top of of the trifle of disaster that is the economy and public services, all founded on the rivers, lakes and seas of sewage. -
So I'll just sum up my first impressions. Sunak - your dorky cousin who thinks he is cool at public speaking and thinks his opinions are your opinions. Starmer - your aunt who misses your birthday every year because the price of everything is going up and she can't afford even a card. Davey - your dad who keeps banging on about the death of your granny from cancer and who would be quite happy to settle for a quiet life if everything wasn't so rigged against him. Swinney - a distant uncle who tells you what is totally wrong with your family and how hard he works to stop his family from being like yours. Tice - your old racist great-grandfather who keeps going down to the beach with his telescope and still believes we are at war with the French.

Well, I discovered a recent tweet, looked him up and found he was dead. Wiki updated and everything - and as I say, Wolfgramm is not a name I would normally miss, given I had to type it out 8 times.

Oh the British Jets rockabilly band I remember well. IIRC they kind of fell into making records - I liked them, even though they looked like a bunch of ne'er do wells from the local pub.
-
Yeah, flashed across our consciousness with that hit, they had a few more attempts lower down the chart, but that's their only Top 30 here. I know, because I had to list them all for last year's TOTP team longlist!!! A group of 8, so not forgettable for me!
