Well, well, well. Of course, I am a loyal player of this game. So I'll be in touch towards the end of the year. Thanks for running this, @Book. I look forward to coming well off the pace and still beating the Committee.

Very reliable source posting that Michael King of The King Brothers, who had a 1957 hit with A White Sport Coat...., has died aged 83.

BBC News just trailed they will be speaking to Grace Jones, Britain's oldest dame, about the Armistice. She will then perform Private Life and Slave To The Rhythm.

Nah. I only saw the bit where he was attempting to attack the bobbies. But how many dead in the Good Ole USA in Pittsburgh and Thousand Oaks when the attacker had a gun? And how many dead in Melbourne? I'm not for armed police for the sake of it and it works better where targeted I think in countries where guns aren't carried as a matter of course. America seems to have several problems here in reducing the love affair with the gun, exacerbated by the current orange bawbag in the Whitehouse. Coppers with guns still have a problem dealing with minorities, I mean they are shooting and tasering to death people with mental issues, never mind the clear racism problem. So you are perhaps needing a gun to protect yourself against folk who think they are all Boss Hogg without the personality. And is it possible that they didn't section the veteran in California because (I) he was white; and (II) they were fearful of losing their jobs? Hasn't Trump introduced some sort of rule that is you offend a veteran you get your jotters? Thus making veterans less likely to get arrested or sectioned, when these are exactly the same kind of people to have mental health issues and access to military grade weaponry. Insanity.

Video footage showing attacker swinging his weapon aimlessly at 3 armed officers, before being shot, online. When the bad guy doesn't have a gun and the "good guys"* do. *Apologies to Charon in advance....

Vic Emerson, best known for his period with Sad Café and who co-wrote Every Day Hurts for them, has died aged 69 from pancreatic cancer. https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2018/nov/08/vic-emerson-obituary (Did a search a nothing came up). Edit: Looks like he died around 13 October.

Trump: If you have a bad guy with a gun, all you need is a good guy with a gun. Thousand Oaks: Good guy with gun shot dead immediately. Oh say can you see........

Hmm. Love Shack a 90s hit here. You mention 2 other numbers which haven't hit the charts here, but don't mention Roam, or Good Stuff, which did. -
Why don't the Press Corps just come out in sympathy, now Acosta has been banned from the Whitehouse? Major networks stop covering his "rallies", press stop attending his conferences and press briefings, small quotes in the papers about the President's travels, about an eighth of a page should cover what he's actually doing. Meantime, for a while now, I've been considering just how alike Trump and William McKinley are in their policies, particularly economic. And we all know what happened to McKinley.....

A-ha were on the 1985 list I did. Although the sun did shine on TV in 1986. I can only pick one #1 - went for the seminal Berlin song as they won't appear on any other 80s list! And before the Madonna fans come down on me...I don't like Madonna. My choice, my list. -

Sledgehammer peaked at #4 for 4 weeks in May/June 1986. So now you see my problem, I have loads to pick from at the top of the chart, so I button down on one. I actually bought Cutting Crew, and so....'twas picked. -

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
YoungWillz replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
This thread is too quiet in light of the mid-terms in the USA. Now either (I) Americans are not as riled up about them as everyone is reporting; or (II) they're all too busy voting. Whatever happens, it's been a fascinating watch. I see not only has there been some fineckety-finackety already down in Georgia (who made the candidate the guy in charge of the voting rules? Isn't that insanity?), but now some of the voting machines have suffered "technical difficulties". And how is it possible in the 21st century that dead people are still on the voting rolls (according to reports)? Here when there is an election, there are canvasses and cross-checks prior to the vote. And when someone dies, generally a return is made to the local authority which is very simple to do and that takes people off liabilities for local taxes etc. and removes them from the voters' roll. In a country proud of it's democracy, why is it always problematic to do the voting thing, you know the foundation of democracy? *shrug* -
I think that's the first time all of the teams without exception (apart from solo picks - and I'm not sure that's happened) who picked a name last year dropped the same name and that name is a scorer this year for more than one completely different team. It's quite astonishing. An achievement...of sorts.
-
Additionally, special mentions must go to @Death Impends; @Joey Russ; and @gcreptile, who will all be added to the Hall of Cardblunts in the lavatories, as they all dropped Ted Mack this year.

The Mack shall never return to the casino, thanks to Ted's death. FujimoriNoMorey and Captain Chorizo score hits, thus closing the gap on the lead. No bonuses, leaderboard updated. A crack appearing in that dam about to burst?

What say you to Timothy Combe? Seems to be in very rude health for an 82 year old, but I'm working my way through Pertwee again....nice to see Paul Darrow standing up and running about the moors again!
