Boris makes one of the most important hard-hitting and intelligent resignation speeches ever in the House of Commons. Just kidding. Moans that Brexit isn't hard enough, that the UK should dither back to his vision of Brexit (and look wonderfully weaker than the weak vision - is it a vision? we already have) and that we should all unite behind the previous Lancaster House speech. Incidentally, there was a previous Lancaster House speech - just before Zimbabwe's independence. Look how that turned out. Anyway Boris, no gravitas, plenty of blonde lock tossing and stamping of petulant feet. As expected. I rate it 1/10.

Jeez, that picture looks like it was taken in someone's home. What an invasion of privacy.......

You know, 17th July has been fertile ground in the past. Ted Heath, Walter Cronkite, Elaine Stritch, Gordon (of Peter and Gordon), Mickey Spillane, Jules Bianchi and one person who had his own thread which isn't tagged as dead yet. So we may get some names in the next couple of days. Reaper's been fickle when he takes 'em this year. Edit: Ta, mods, you are wonderful you know.

He was always going to say that. Obama called out lying politicians today...just tick another lie off on Trump's longlist. (I may have achieved Trump bingo on this one!)

Been watching the Lava Bomb hit a boat full of people who want to get really close to an erupting volcano all day. Their horrified screams never get old. -

Government defeated on remaining in the EU medicines regulatory framework by 4 votes. And that wasn't even the defeat they were expecting. Division on the possible defeat on the Customs Union on now on BBC Parliament. Tory rebels allegedly being threatened with a General Election if this goes through. -

Putin meets Trump in Helsinki. (Looking good by the way Vlad, looking sharp!) Interesting things he said include: 1. Business leaders could co-operate between Russia and the US. Lifting of sanctions imminent? 2. Supports the Nuclear Deal on Iran....diametrically opposed to Trump's position. 3. Joint working groups on intelligence and cyber-security. Can the UK/EU now confidently share information with the Trump administration, knowing it might end up in the hands of Russian agencies? Otherwise I am at a loss as to what this meeting achieved. Syria? Ukraine? Slowing the arms race? Novichok? Election meddling? Somebody had a mini protest at the start...who knows what that was about? He was huckled before the Press Conference started.
