Death Notice for Michael Lapage, British Olympic rower and Silver medallist in the eights from the 1948 Games and DDP pick, aged 94: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/226097/lapage

Gosh, it's a hard situation by the sounds of it. However, someone needs to know the prognosis so that plans can be made. If it's terminal as it seems to be, gotta know so you can get the help and assistance the family need. Somebody needs to be more insistent with the medics. Imo. Hope you and yours can get through this.

Ah, what hilarity we had when Sir Creep said exactly the same thing years ago!!! Which is exactly why we still have both threads....

Perennial Bibliogryphon pick Bernard Hepton has exited the stage. Leaderboard updated, no bonuses.
-
Hepton has gone Cold - Itz Points for one player. Actively considering updating the leaderboard now we've had some hits.

Cross-posting and giving Toast the credit, as it should be.

The English Courts baffle me. So they agree that someone in a PVS (persistent vegetative state) can have treatment withdrawn provided everyone agrees without legal permission, in a ruling announced by the Supreme Court today. Yet if everyone agrees that someone with locked in syndrome should go (including the person who is locked in) withdrawing sustenance would be a positive step towards euthanasia and is not allowed. Now, speaking as someone whose family member was in a PVS for over 20 years, I don't understand this. I can only think this is clearly an economic decision, giving weight to the right wing attitude that the taxpayer shouldn't be forking out for folk who, in their opinion, deserve to die or don't deserve treatment. (Next stop, fatties and fag addicts). Anyway, in Scotland, my family were given the option without any recourse to the Courts...it would have just happened if my parents had so decided. They didn't. Hmmm....

Tbh, you haven't read the posts properly then. AOGuy has explained his motivation. It's quite clear from what he said, he is here at least partially to make posts to receive the joy of seeing his named bod get a Wiki update. Instead of simply editing Wiki. He is not here to interest other Listers and quite rightly doesn't give two hoots if you like or are interested in his posts. Once you understand that motivation, you can accept that. Now it is a question of navigating the basic rules for him (links in English, at least one appropriate ongoing thread) and he's still learning. Up to the mods to police the Board, as drol quite rightly points out, why should we care what interests another poster?

I did see Alliss on the golfing highlights, on camera and everything. Yes, he sounded rough. He was walking with a stick He was talking about his issues with balance. Still looked and sounded less rough than Johnny Ball did on the last Daily Politics.

There's always Google Translate...not great I'll admit, but anyone who tries to understand teenagers these days should have no problem sorting out what the article says. OP takes two minutes to do that and it is more than helpful to the rest of us.
