Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

Our new DExU Secretary of State Dominic Raab is making a statement on the UK Government's White Paper on Brexit. He's getting his arse handed to him by the Speaker, because the White Paper has not been made available to MPs prior to his statement. Welcome to your position you tool. -
"I will withdraw from NATO unless you stump up more money." "I like NATO we have a great relationship." "Germany is completely controlled by Russia." "I think NATO and Russia can get along." "Crimea was under Obama's watch, not Trump's watch." "I am imposing tariffs on the EU." "The EU is so unfair to us, they have so many tariffs on the US." "Canada and the EU are a threat to our national security." And here's the doozy: "I am completely consistent." This man and his administration have taken babies and children from the parents and locked them up. Having been ordered to reunite those kids, they can't in a large number because they don't know to whom they belong. Our response: Welcome to the UK.

More difficult final to call now. Shame the boys of '18 couldn't have gone one further. Respect to their progress.
-
Hmm, just popped on at half time in the WC semi-final. Seeing as you are so desperate for me to dig another one out Deathers, I'll card index a wee bit later on....

What about winners for Best Song, I cry?
-
George Cohen turned up on the news there pre England/Croatia. Looks fine, sounds lucid. Could be the last one standing. (Hope I've not cursed him....)
-
I'm interested to see how England/Croatia pans out. Croatia are the consummate "winners on penalties" of this tournament...so England can't let it get to that, I'd say. If England are 3-0 up at half-time, they will win. Anything else, and it's a lottery imo.

Cheers Joey.

So four years ago today, Tommy Ramone beat out his last. Is everyone who was in The Ramones dead now? Maybe Phantom or MPFC could assist.....? Thanks to Deathray for this message.
-
Ok, Deathers you've pushed me into doing another one I wasn't going to bother with...
-
Gosh, for someone who wants to stop promoting old threads, you don't half like posting in 'em.

Tobermory....with 10 inches....but only sometimes.

Rather than use the Death Anniversary thread. Isn't it interesting there were three major deaths on 11 July in three consecutive years on named threads? And all could do with tagging for tidying purposes... Then I'll happily let 'em rest in peace.... (Never let me get bored...)

Don't piss on your champions, Deathray....

11 years ago was the last time Lady Bird Johnson was "spotted", aged 94.

12 years ago today, John Spencer did not have a pot: he was smoked, aged 70.

Thirteen years ago today, Gretchen Franklin from EastEnders went west, aged 94.

It appears that Elaine Banham, who had small roles in the first episode of Planet Of The Spiders for Doctor Who died back in April: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3024237 It's the Denville Hall reference that seals it for me. She's sitting next to Pertwee on the left of the screen during the show at the opening of the episode, clapping and thereafter miraculously appears in the meditation class at the Meditation Centre and even gets a close up about 17 and a half minutes into the episode. IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0051993/ (For those who really like their minutiae of such things).

Don't judge me, I'm posting here anyway. British actress and model Victoria Harrington, who had an uncredited role as a schoolgirl in Carry On Teacher, has died aged 74. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/neptune-society/obituary.aspx?n=Victoria-Anderson&lc=1907&pid=189480711&mid=7905042 Other child actor roles include appearances in the films Carve Her Name With Pride, The 39 Steps (1959 Version) and Look Back In Anger. As there was a recent story in The Times behind a paywall I couldn't read, thought I'd do a little search on Les Dennis Heseltine. As it turns out, he's lost some weight doing some sort of TV challenge, reversed a pre-diabetes diagnosis and actively advertising that he would like to be on Strictly Come Dancing. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5500037/Les-Dennis-reveals-hes-lost-19Ibs-reversed-pre-diabetes.html (March 2018) So we'll be waiting a while for him I guess.
