Bloody official charts has two pages for The Shins! http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/51274/the-shins/ http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/1045/shins/ Fuckers. Anyway, looks like I got away with it as Swift wasn't on anything, lol. So you made my case for me anyway in your edit, Heef.

Can I tell you a secret? I'll be supporting England against Sweden. Because I think England are better.

Tina Turner's eldest son Craig Raymond Turner has died aged 59 according to this: https://metro.co.uk/2018/07/03/tina-turners-oldest-son-dies-aged-59-7681314/ -
Oi! I'm not one of those "anybody but England" folk. I don't generally support the UK in the Eurovision, I pick the best song. So there's no harm in me (disinterested party as my team are not playing) rooting for who I think are the best team. That's quite a separate matter from my politics. Don't start calling me unpatriotic or an enemy of the people now....

Got to agree with you on Croatia. Nasty work by them scraping through, they won't be that nonchalant again.

I honestly think that was England's toughest test. Is it possible you could meet Belgium again? In which case, hold your breath....

Additionally, Swift wasn't on New Slang. Released 2004...Swift joined the band in 2011 by the looks of it. Edit: Anyhow, my point wasn't aimed at Swift's fame, notability or otherwise. The Guardian Obit was only to be expected, I love the fact they cater not only for mass music but niche. But for the UK tabloid press to laud Swift with a death notice as though the majority of the population should be in mourning is quite quite wrong. They wrap themselves in the Union Jack, shout "Get on with Brexit!", commemorate every "British" victory from Magna Carta to the 1966 World Cup and beyond, and yet their coverage of local celebrity in the arts is restricted. That's why you see so many tweets from folk going "I did not know such and such had died X years ago, I just found out and I'm devastated"...it's a judgement call. Maybe, just maybe instead of calling this forum sick and twisted, they actually read it and did some spadework on a possible write up, the UK press would actually be more representative of its popular readership. Swift is a filler story that certain musos might find while looking for the tits on Page 3. (I dunno if that is still a thing, mind....)

Well done, chaps. Well, what can you lot do from here on in?

Those 5 guys in Oregon really like listening to them...a lot...ha..

That was generous, giving a goal Columbia deserved. First bit of fair play on either side in the whole Jame.

World Cup predict the scores 2018
YoungWillz replied to Paul Bearer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Probably. Switzerland were the only team to score though...and they are out. -
Not complaining about the above post, everyone's entitled to post here because music binds you to people but....American Richard Swift's record for the record: The Shins: Zero top 100 albums or singles in the UK. The Arcs: Zero top 100 singles, 1 album reached number 40 in the UK. Was a touring member of The Black Keys, so their 4 top 75 singles don't count. Solo artist: Zero mark on the charts in the UK. National Obits received in the UK so far: Mail; Mirror; The Sun, Daily Star. Another Richard, British Richard Adland, drummer for The Piranhas (died early 2018): Piranhas: 1 top 10 and 1 top 20 single and one top 75 album in the UK. National Obits received in the UK so far: None. Thank gawd for this forum.

What's with the tramlines at Wimbledon? It looks horrendous and allows players to judge position better. I'm watching that nice South African Kyle Edmund making tennis look easy.

World Cup predict the scores 2018
YoungWillz replied to Paul Bearer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Just cannot see Sweden beating Switzerland or England beating Columbia. But teams seem to change during this round. Brazil upped their game (slightly), Japan were awesome and the unluckiest nation so far, etc etc. If England do win, they could, just might, win this whole thing. And we'll never hear the end of it..... -
People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive
YoungWillz replied to Catherine's topic in DeathList Forum
Idly perusing the picks this year (ok, it's nearly 2.30 am, what else?) I was surprised to learn that Alan Braden, composer of TV themes from way back, is still alive. I see Pedro67 mentioned he'd picked him, but...well...I'm still surprised! -
New Orleans jazz pianist and DDP selection Henry Butler has died, cancer: https://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2018/07/henry_butler_new_orleans_piano.html I wish I could say more, but I have nothing.

Just a heads up. OldWillz was watching a programme about Hollywood Musicals the other day and Robert Morse popped up. OldWillz has a habit of watching stuff fairly shortly before one of the participants dies. I'm popping him on my shortlists should he get through the current tranche of pools.

Yeah, I'm not getting a scroll option on IE. Ah, well.
