From Stats: 2285 to end of 2016. From Scoreboard: 156 in 2017 (not including August hits) I'd say 2441 on that basis (with a couple to come).

And dead: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/john-mcenroe-mother-dies-81-weeks-cancer-diagnosis-article-1.3384474 -
Wow. Robert Hardy (was quick after all), David Jones, Jeanne Moreau, Mark Wilkinson, Sam Shepard. So much for the diversity quota...
-
Depending on what you read Dilip Kumar is either recovering well or critical in ICU on a ventilator with renal failure. Majority seem to be going with the latter...

Plus, once you are reined in, it might get you watching some of the other excellent stuff he did. You don't know what you've got til it's gone....How is Joni these days?

Hmm. "How do I get maximum traffic to my site on someone famous having died?" says the Ed. Obituary Writer: "Let's make reference to his Shakespeare roles and Winston Churchill...." Former Obituary Writer down the Jobcentre: "I'd like to sign on for welfare please..." Hey, it's not necessarily about the quality of the work. The headlines are there for the site's benefit, not ours.

Interesting. The article I read in 2015 really glossed over him, but talked about him as though he was still alive. 1920 was a "best guess" at his birthdate - the articles all refer to his conviction in 2011 as him being aged 91. If he died in the July as above, it was only a couple of months after his conviction (which he was appealing), which I would have thought would have engendered some newspaper coverage, but alas I can't find anything. I'll stick this as a provisional on the list fwiw.

That bloody advert on just now with a great choon:
-
Nope.
-
None of these people are contenders on my list.
-
I'll punt on Foray, Moreau, Sisson, Sinatra/Marx and Bergmann for a full hen night special, with Hardy held over.
-
I'd never miss anything he was in. Consummate performer. A long, productive and respected life well lived. We shall miss you.

He's got a BBC one now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40814843

I'll update the above list for Robert Hardy's death...that's me and msc have a hit with him, and I'm sure it is terrible news to us both. Edit: Next death gains a new leaderboard. (Hoping for one per new page )
